Currently Seeking Community Representatives Nationwide - Internet Access A Must

We are looking for creative and enterprising Community Representatives who are responsible for major duties essential to an active and effective cultural exchange childcare program. Au Pair Foundation places international au pairs with American families for the purpose of cultural exchange and childcare. This United States Department of State authorized program places primary importance on finding qualified au pairs and families who will benefit from the shared cultural understanding that comes from living and working together. Au Pairs are screened and selected from countries around the world to participate in a 12-month program during which they provide up to 45-hours a week of childcare in exchange for room, board, international roundtrip airfare and a weekly stipend.

Responsibilities

Host Family Selection and Orientation

  • Interview and screen families to participate in the Au Pair Program. Review family applications, verify references and evaluate host family applicant’s ability to participate in the program.
  • Provide pre-arrival orientation to selected families detailing program objectives and expectations. Provide awareness of possible cross cultural communication problems and strategies for dealing with communication dysfunctions.

Cross Cultural Communication and Counseling

  • Obtain complete information on local educational institutions and create a community profile to assist the incoming au pair in selecting activities and educational institutions for study.
  • Provide Au Pair/Host Family orientations.
  • Assist in delineating duties and responsibilities of program participants.
  • Counsel Au Pair as needed to assist in adapting to American culture and life.
  • Maintain monthly contact with families and au pairs and fill-out on-line, monthly progress reports.
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts between program participants if required.

Administrative

  • Report on progress of participants via internet filing system.
  • Materials/information requests: Oversee and assist in response to requests from the potential host family questions regarding the program.
  • Assist with other promotional projects as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Should be excellent speaker and communicator with demonstrated initiative, imagination, stamina, a sense of humor and a love of international cultures and languages.
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer skills required; familiarity and access to internet and mail programs.

Working Conditions

  • Part- or full-time depending on level of commitment.
  • Must be on call in the event of an emergency.

Special Environmental Factors

  • Must be able to work off-site without supervision in a highly ethical manner.

Hours

  • Flexible, occasional evening and weekend appointments required as host family's schedule demands.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation on a per family basis.Training is provided and incentives are available.
