Au Pair Programs

Infant Care Au Pair Standard Au Pair
Description: Up to 45 hours a week of
experienced childcare for infants and
children between 3 months 2 years of
age. The Au Pair has 200 hours of
documented Infant Care experience.
Description: Up to 45 hours of
child care a week for children
between the ages of 2 and 12
years of age. The Au Pair has at
least 2 documented childcare
references.
Educational Component:
Au Pair studies at least 6 semester units
at a post secondary institution. The Host
Family covers up to $500 toward
educational expenses.

Weekly stipend: $195.75 Weekly stipend: $195.75


Au Pair Foundation Au Pairs are selected after undergoing a rigorous screening process which includes:

  • Complete Criminal Background Investigation
  • Submission of at least two childcare employment references from non-family members
  • Proof of at least 200 hours of infant care experience for Infant Care Au Pairs
  • Submission of at least one character reference
  • Medical Evaluation
  • English Testing which includes evaluation of speaking, writing and reading comprehension
  • Psychometric Screening
  • Proof of age between 18-26 years of age
  • Proof of Completion of High School

Au Pair Requirements

This 12 month program is administered by Au Pair Foundation and authorized by the U.S. Department of State.

  • High School Diploma and preferably University Education
  • English speaking and listening comprehension competence
  • Previous childcare experience
  • Excellent health as verified by a licensed medical doctor
  • Be between 18 and 26 years of age
  • Provide written character and employment references
  • Pass a Psychometric Evaluation
  • Complete Au Pair Foundation Training
  • Au Pair is required to pass and submit a criminal background check

United States Department of State & IRS Regulations

The Au Pair Foundation program is a United States Department of State designated program created to foster healthy cultural exchanges for young international people and American families. An Au Pair can spend 12 months providing live-in child care for American families. In exchange the au pair receives a weekly stipend and funding for studying at a post-secondary educational institution
