Letter to Host Family
The main purpose of this letter is to present you with a warm hello from my part and hoping that you are doing well. My name is Cinthya Elizabeth Lopez Martinez, I’m 22 years old and I’m a communications science graduate. I’m the second child in a family of three children I have lived and grown up in a very warm and lovely family where values such as respect, humility, responsibility , honesty and warmth are very important, just as there are norms and rules that have formed me very well as a person.
I consider myself an active person, creative, patient, positive, cheerful, hardworking, I have plenty of charisma, always looking forward to growing as a person and I’m very adaptable to changes and I’m not afraid of learning new things.
The main reason why I decided to take this big step in my life is that I want to be able to help people through my abilities, since my career has taught me that it is very important to communicate with assertiveness, helping to create a healthy relationship with people around me, especially young people.
My experience and good disposition with them comes from way back when i used to watch after my younger sister, neighbors and my parents friends’ children, recently taking care of my 8 month old nephew every afternoon and also participating in summer camps and extracurricular activities, bringing them joy with games, values and knowledge, making my enjoyment with children grow even more.
All of this will also help me grow as a person, in the moral and also, the professional grownd, allowing me to discover and embrace a new culture, improve my English, and see new places. On top of everything i would love to live in a country where everyone is welcome and there’s a lot of freedom., where your skin color, religion, or race don’t matter, where there’s warm kind and helpful people.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you
Cinthya Lopez M.

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
Hi, my name is Bruna, I’m 21. I was born and lived in Brazil with my parents and brothers, Lukas (20 years), Karla (16 years) and Nathan (12 years). Being the oldest I’m more independent, I always took care of my brothers. When they were younger, I was at home when my parents had to leave. I’m their “driver”. I was always driving and picking them up at school and other activities. My brother Lukas, is passionate about animals. In our house we have dogs, birds, rabbits, turtles, almost a zoo! We are an evangelical family. We attend church every Sunday. I am passionate about life, I believe that life is the greatest gift God gave us. I like adventures and challenges, they give us strength to continue. I am very calm and playful, but strict when needed. I am organized and attentive, often a perfectionist and very observant. I do not like fighting I believe that things are solved with conversation. I like reading, watching good movies, playing sports, going out with friends to talk and laugh. I’ve done theater, dance, music, soccer, swimming. I most theater and soccer. About the “art of cooking”, I’m learning. I like studying, learning new things and teach what I know. I’m passionate about children, they are the translation of love. For little more than two years I’ve cared for a group of children in the church, about 30 children from 0 - 6 years old, sometimes older children 7 - 10 years, every Sunday. I stay with them during the period of worship. I tell stories, we play games, they do activities painting and collage. I’ve learned a lot with everyone, because each one has his own way of being. I graduated in 2009 in Advertising and Propaganda. During college I worked with my father in one of his companies. I was responsible for the financial department. After some times decided to work in my area, that was when I joined the marketing department of a film exhibitor, Cine-System. There I was in charge of promotions for the films. I talked with the distributors (Warner, Paramount, Fox, Disney…), a very nice job. I decided to leave the company because for a long time I have wished to live in another country, learn about the culture, learn the language, meet new people. And I believe that now is the best time for that. Looking for some opportunities to live abroad, I found the Au Pair Foundation program. I found an opportunity to join all I want and like. Being an Au Pair will be watching over children, studying, meeting new people and places, having a cultural experience. I have no doubt it will be a very good learning time for my life. I’m excited to be chosen and match with a nice family living away from home, knowing a different culture, different people, many things change and I hope that after this year as an Au Pair, I discover what I really want to do and I choose it wisely. Thank you for this opportunity.
With love,
Bruna

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
I write this letter, first of all to send a cordial greeting and talk a little about me. My name is Bianca Cordova and I have 18 years old, my family and me are living in a town called Caborca in Sonora, Mexico. We are a family with three children, my brother is Diego (25), the follow sister is me and then my sister Alejandra (16). My dad is called Julio Cesar (52) and works as a journalist, my mother, Cecilia (44) is a homemaker. We are a family that loves animals and nature, so we love pets. Personally and for fun, I like doing things like traveling, watching movies, listening to music, playing sports and to go out with my friends. I don’t drink alcohol or smoke. My family is very hardworking and very early age I learned to be a useful person, responsable for my tasks. Thanks to that, I have concluded successfully my high school studies and I’ve had 3 jobs. Talking about my jobs, the 1st was two years ago at a clinic that provides health services for teachers. There, I was an assistant in the area of Human Resources and helped me a lot to learn to work with discipline and often under pressure. My 2nd job was in a kindergarten in my town, when doing my social service (250 hours required from high school). There, I was an educational Assistant helping a teacher of children with 5 years of age. It was a nice experience for me because I have always loved caring for children, even before I always did with my younger cousins. A year ago I knew about the Au Pair programs and from that moment I decided I wanted to participate. For this reason, I began to prepare and I got my third job in a Child Development and Care Center, which belongs to a local govvernment agency. It is a combination of nursery and kindergarten in which govvernment workers can bring their children from the age of 6 months to 5 years 11 months, to be cared when they’re working. There I started working as a social service and as I liked and I learned many things I was promoted to assistant, allowing me to cover the summer vacations of some teachers. They let me take care for a whole group! Makes me feel pround and happy. I feel that through my job at the clinic, I learned about having a responsability. While in the kindergarten and the Child Development and Care Center, I have acquired much experience in the care of children, learning a lot about their physical and emotional needs. I know I’m young but I got myself prepared a lot to that this won’t be a disadvantage, and formal documents that I have allows me to check everything I say here. I understand that many people trust me and I will not disappoint. I got studies about first aid to get an idea of what to do in case of emergency and took extra classes in English for improve my language skills. I must say I am a person who is happy to look after young children is a privilege for me because I love them. As an Au Pair, and for myself, I hope to learn much about your country an culture, improve my English a lot and to have more time and maturity to make a good decision about my future in college. I sincerely believe that I can be of great help to your family and I am sure we can have an enjoyable experience together. Hoping for your wellbeing, I say good bye.

Dear Host Family,
My name is Bircan and I am 23 years old. I also speak Italian as I was in Italy last year. I learning about new cultures and meeting new people. I have short, curly, black hair and brown eyes. I have been to US two times with the program called Work and Travel for university students during summer of 2007 and 2008. I have been to Williamsburg and Georgetown before and I l would like to learn more about this fantastic country. I have also worked as an English teacher in Italy last year for one term, I thought English at a state high school. I miss my dear students already. I would like to be an au pair to improve my English and to help me find a good job in the future. I would also like to travel, to learn about culture and people of US. I will try to be a good au pair both for your children and your family. I am sure this programme will teach me a lot. I believe that I will be able to be a good Au-Pair, because I've always loved children and I had the chance to gain experiences with children in lots of different opportunities. Firstly because of my little sister, Ece, as I have been caring for her since she was born. I learned for example how to change a diaper and how to bath little children. Furhtermore I did some babysitting. I have had some experience of looking after a two year-old boy called Ali, his 4 year-old sister and a new-born baby, they were very exciting experiences. Ali was a child with some problems,he had a problem with his heart and he could not walk and say any words even if he was two years old. He was also using diapers. I could help him with walking but not with talking. I cared for him for four months and at the end of this experience I understood that I loved children a lot more than I thought. I also have had an experience of teaching English to first grade Primary School students(age 6–7). I had fun with working there with those little loving children. I like going to theatrre and cinema, playing basketball, skiing, cooking, taking pictures, always learning new things and reading during my free times. I also like listening to music and take some walks. I enjoy cooking and I will be happy to help with some housework and take the language course at an advanced level. I will be able to come to USA after September 2010 and will decide there if I would like to stay more. I would like tos tay more if the conditions are right. I took my licence last year. I will be able to drive after some experience. My father works as a shopkeeper and my mother does not work, I have 5 sisters all younger than me. My oldest sister, Selda(22) studied Urban Planning and is planning to get a master degree. The next one, Burcin(21) is still studying Economics at the university in Adana, Turkey. Nurcan(19) is doing babysitting and continuing her education. Didem(16) is at high school and the youngest one, Ece(11) is at Elementary school. I have a very loving relationship with all of them, what becomes pretty noticeable is that we're getting on well with each other, as we love playing games together or any other activity. I would describe myself as a very ambitious hardworking and sincere girl. I would definitly call myself honest. I am funny, sociable, reliable, organized, tidy and polite, very open to new things. I like communicating with people, especially wih children. I would like to tell you that I won`t have any bias and I am very open-minded. When I complete the program I would like to go on my education and then start working as a teacher and teach English in Turkey. I think I will have enough experience and good level of Speaking. I hope that this year will be an enrichment both for you and me and I would like to say thanks in advance for that chance. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. If you would like to know any more information about me, please feel free to make contact with me.
Yours truly,

**Not available for placement until January 2010**
Dear Host Family,
Mainly thanks for taking the time to read my letter know a little more about me so as to know my reasons why I like to be an Au Pair girl. My name is Maria Anakaren Bonilla Ibarra, I’m from Saltillo Coahuila, it is located in the north of Mexico, and I’m 19 years old, I was born in February, 05, 1991. I am currently studying a degree in business administration, I am in the fiveth quarter. About two months ago I finished and English course of two years in Birmingham institute; I learned a lot of things, especially about grammar and the last month I took a curse of first aid, because I think that it’s important know what to do in dangerous health cases. I also perfectly situated to work as a waitress in a restaurant for three years, I like this job because I go there only on weekends, so I have no complications with the school and it gives me time to do other activities in the week, I like to take aerobics classes and going to the gym. I am working to help my parents, with this I realize that I can follow the things by myself, I want to use my time in productive things, I am a responsible person, honest, patient, generous, independent, good worker and dreamer. I like to read, especially Paulo Coelho’s books. In my free time I’ve been taking care of babies and children, because I like to help in what I could, I care for my nephews and children of some family friends, I love spending time with them, knowing that they’re always right, help in growing and learning. I’m interested on them to learn new things all the time. They are such soft and intelligent human beings that I enjoy each moment with them. I also like to spend time with my family… I have three sisters and two brothers, all of them are married, only I live in my house with my parents, we always get together every Sunday. We like to plan trips and meet new places here in our country… just as I like spending time with my friends and boyfriend. In this case I would like to be an Au Pair because I’m going to do mostly what I like, take care of children and therefore learn English. I think the opportunity is very good because living with other people, meeting new cultures, places, improving the English language, and above all taking responsibly for children or babies is the best, I’m really exciting with the idea of be an Au Pair. on the other hand I believe that the American people have really important values, and always look for the best way of life, of curse with responsibility, effort and work. well, I will wait for a an answer, I promise to be the best baby-sitting and always give the best of me if you decide to choose me, I have looked for an opportunity like this, and I hope you choose me.
With kind regards
Anakaren Bonilla

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
I hope with this letter, I can help you with the dicision, if I fit in your family and that this letter will help you to decide if I could be the right au pair for you. First I would like to tell you something about my family and me: My name is May-Britt Körbelin, I am 18 years old and went to a grammar school with the economic department. I am very open-minded, kind, active, friendly, responsible and sympathetic. I am from Germany and live in a small village called Mittelnkirchen, which is near Hamburg. It’s a part of the largest fruit growing area in Europe. “Das Alte Land”. Besides fruit, there is the river Elbe. I grew up with my father Bjorn, my mother Susanne, my brother Soren and our little dog Idefix near the river. My father is captain, but a few years ago he changed into the office to be a Nautical Superintendent. My mother works as a management assistant in real estate in the bank Stade-Altes Land. There she works as a temporary employee and usually she is housewife. Soren is 16 years old and attends a grammar school. Because of the profession of my father, my brother and I didn’t only grow up near the Elbe, but also with it. Since we were young our family owns a boat. Earlier we had a speedboat, but one year ago my dad fulfilled his dream of having a sailing yacht. I have really good relation to all members of my family. But best I am with my brother. In our freetime we spend much time and we take a walk with the dog together everyday. Then we have various conversations. From time to time we eat in restaurants or do something with our friends, e.g. we go the beach to play beach volleyball or in winder we have snowball fights. My favourite activity is spending time with my best friends Regina and Rena. I can talk with them about everything and we always have very much fun together. They are both as much full of life as I. Because of our spontaneity we are never bored. Furthermore I spend my spare time with babysitting, homework help, working in the supermarket at the cash desk, sometimes I play basketball and often meet friends. We like to do bowling, to go to the cinema, in the holidays in theme parks, to make a barbecue or to go on vacation. Because of the husband of my cousin I started to be interested in being an AuPair. He told me of his year and his experiences from America 15 years ago. At the wedding I met his hostfamily. My impression is that it is very fascinating, that both sons were children at that time and that they are still in contact and never forget each other. Now it is clear for me, that I want to spend a year in America after I passed my final exams at school. In addition to the point that I have good experiences with children and I like to play with them, to do exciting things with them, dress them up, and have a look at them when I read stories for them and they are sleeping in my arm, also to cook for them and to teach them new things which they want to learn. I like to see when they are laughing and show them that I will always help them when they have problems. I like to paint some pictures and to do handicraft work or see what is the final result of their work. children have a lot of phantasy. It is fantastic, when I come to the babysitting and the child give me a picture, that he or she only paint for me. No matter what they paint…it is a sign, that they think of me. In such moments, I always remember, that children are wonderful. 5 years ago we lived in Grunendeich, that is two village next to Mittelnkirchen. There we lived in a neighborhood with many children. As I was 10 years old, Chiara was 3 years, Rebecca 5 years, Fabrio 6 years, Elena 7 years, Soren 8 years and Sascha 13 years old. We had a very well relationship and often we went together at the Elbe to a playground. Even at the time Sascha and I looked after the other children. I think, that even then the love and the sense of responsibility developed in my heart. Often we played football together or build tree houses on the banks of the Elbe. All of the children were like my brothers and sisters. It was s wonderful childhood and even today we keep in touch. Ever since I am 14 years old, I have worked as a babysitter. In the neighbourhood it is rather irregular, just if the parents want to go out. But sometimes it is regular. For example, as Wilken (4) when to t course for swimming. During the time he swam, I took a walk with his little sister Maxili (1) and take care of her. it was a very nice moment, as Wilken said to me: May-Britt, can you swim with me the next time? Besides I help children with their homework since I am 16 years old. All beings with Mandy, at that time she was 8 years old and at the 2nd grade. I supported her with the homeworks for one years. In between I started to tutor Melina and Gina. The three girls went to the same class. I help Melina for 3 years and we like each other much. Someday Melinas grandmother said to me: Everytime a friend will ask Melina, if she wants to play Wednesday she just answered: No I haven’t got time, May-Britt comes every Wednesday. I think every time, that private tutoring is a duty and they hate it, but she loves it. A few years ago I made an internship in a day-care center. When I was s child I played in the same day-care center, as well. There I helped the supervisor to look after the children. 20 children between 3 and 7 years were in one group. At the beginning the children were very shy, but they realised quickly, that we can have fun together. I remind of one moment. In a group were a few boys, who only thought of football and can’t sit still. So at first I played with them football until they were bushed. And later they say on my lap and in my arms and I listened to a soccer story. At an other day a new little girl came in the day-care center. It was a new situation for her, her mother went away and she was alone in a very new environment. I comfort her and distracted her from her mother. It went really well. At the next day she cried again. But I had kitchen duty, so another governess had to calm her down, but she cried and cried. She get used to me. Once she was on my arms, the world was so good again and so her mother was allowed to say goodbye. It makes me happy, that the girl felt very well on my arms. The security of the children is very important for me, therefore I took part in a babysitter-course. There I learned a lot about children. The course was not only about safety measures for example for stomachache, a insect sting, a fall, fever, etc., but also hints for games. We learned there activ games, finger games and children songs. To get my driving license I had to do a first aid course. There I learned a lot, too. Since I’ve got my driving license I go by car short routes almost each day, but I drove a longer route to Denmark this summer with three friends to visit my brother on his holidays. This we had wonderful days. We were independend for a few days and we had to take care of us by ourselves. But this is otherwise even no problem for Soren and me, because we have been often at home alone since my parents own their sailing boat. They often go sailing at the weekend or on holidays. In the last summer holidays we were at home alone for two weeks and we spend this time very responsibly. We had to wash, cook and tidy up alone the whole house. Furthermore we had to care for our dog, too, and we had no problems with this duties. But I do not just have experiences to spent time along at home, but also in foreign countries. I took part at two pupil exchanges in the secondary school. With the first exchange I went to Latvia for three weeks in the eighth class. The second exchange I went to France. I lived there with hostfamilies and learned to know the circumstances of the other country. In Latvia I saw how people live in more poverty than in Germany. This is an experience I appreciate very much. I also saw how different the cultures are in other countries, e.g. the food or the people themselves. I am looking forward to learn about the culture of your country during my au pair year, too. I hope that this year will be an enrichment for both us and I would like to say thanks in advance that you will give me this unique chance. In conclusion, I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better. I am looking forward to being an Au Pair in your family.
Yours,
May-Britt

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
Hello, my future host family! I want to tell you more about myself. My name is Oxana. I am 22 years old Ukrainian girl. I live with my parents. My mother (Nadia) is cashier at minimarket. She is 54. My father (Sergey) is a worker. He is 52. My elder brother (Maxim) is a businessman. He is 28. I love my family and I like to spend my time with them. I am fond of pets. I have a dog and two parrots. I like to spend my time on fresh air, at the sea-shore and simply walking through the park. In this year I graduated from Pedagogical University with Honor Diploma of Expert. I chose that educational establishment not by chance. When I studied at school I dreamed to be a teacher. Now it’s my profession. But I feel that I need to have more language practice and more communication with children. That is why this program is exactly what I really need! It suits me in all points. First of all I love children. During my studying at University I was working a lot with children of all ages (from 6 months to 18 years old). Every year we had some school practices. I led English at 5, 6, 9, 10 forms. I found understanding with each pupil (in some cases I needed a lot of time and efforts, but the results were excellent) and with teacher’s stuff. I am rather friendly, sociable and communicative person. On the third course of University (2007-2008) I understood that I really enjoy spending my time with children’s company and I decided to be a teacher of English language at Small Academy of Science (it was voluntary work). I worked with a group of children (primary from 6 forms). I taught them English, we played outside, we made different topical lessons and celebrated English and American holidays in a classroom. It was a great fun for me and for children. In the summer (2008) I went to a summer camp. There I was a leader of children’s groups (As I staid there for three months there were different age groups: 7-10. 10-13. 13-18). Two months I worked with hard children from boarding school. It was difficult I did not deny. But it was my choice. I could simply back home. But I stayed. Every moment of my life was connected with children (from 7 AM till 10 PM). I was as a mother, as a sister, as a teacher and simply as a friend. We talked much, play a lot. I and other leaders organized different sport competitions (in swimming, in running, in playing with ball etc.). By the way, I organized chess competitions and there I was as a referee. We were on duty, watched an order and led educational process. I returned home and continued studying. Than I was asked by my neighbor and friend Anna to help her in bringing up her son Danil. I knew that it was quite difficult period in her life. Her mother went abroad to earn some money and her grandmother had problems with health. So, I agreed with pleasure. Danil was little more then 2 years old. The most part of my weekends and sometimes of working days I spend with Danil. I played with him, we watch TV, walked in a garden (several times I took him in our Park), fed him, put on and put off his clothes. I even taught him to read. In August (2009) I spent one month as a leader of children’s group in summer camp. Then I came back home. Ann didn’t need my help anymore. Her mother returned. Anyway I visited them 2-3 times per month. I attended my classes and worked out as a coach of English for children. At the end of September (2009) I was asked by my friend Galina (we studied together at University) to help her with her son Kostya. Galina continued to attend our classes. She always had lack of time. So I helped her in my free time. It was not easy. Kostya was 6 month only. The child was crying and it was needed to find out a reason. He could be hungry, or wet, or saw a bad dream – anything. But I did my best. I helped Galina feed him, change clothes, lay him to bed etc. At the end of spring I stopped babysitting and coaching because of holding my final exams. At the end of June I hold my finals with excellent marks! This summer I spend at home helping my parents about house and garden. I spend the weekends with my friends. I have a great desire to go to the USA and be a part of your family for one unforgettable year! I hope you will choice me to be your au pair!
Sincerely yours,
Oxana Davydova

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Katharina and I am 19 years old. My birthday is in April. I am living in Aachen, Germany since 1993. Aachen is a big city in the west of Germany. About 250,000 people live in this city. The first years of my life I lived in Duisburg with my mum. We moved because my mother found a new job. My parents separated when I was four. My father has married again. With his new wife he has two other children, two boys who are called Leon and Kenneth. I like them very much and I try to visit them as often as possible. Now I am living with my mum, my brother and my mum’s boyfriend in a little house next to the city. At the moment I am going to school, but I am graduating in June 2010. My favorite subjects at school are Sports and Biology. I have been learning English since 2001 in school, but I think it is not perfect and so I want to improve it in America. My mother is 47 years old and works as a nurse in a hospital. My brother is 15 years old and a student. Since my 18th Birthday I am having my full driving license. I really love and enjoy to drive. Sometimes when I pick up the children I care for, I also drive with the children. To pass my driving licensee I made a first aid course. In my freetime I really like to spend time with children. I have been working as a babysitter since I was 13 years old. Since that time I am caring for two little girls, who are called Sophia and Annika. When my job started Sophie was two years old and Annika was one month old. Today, Sophia goes to school already and Annika will go to school this summer. I think it sit eh most amazing thing to see how they grow up. Since I was 17 I also care for two little boys. Whenever their mum needs my help I baby sit Felix and Ben. Mostly I care for them in the evening and on the weekend. When I meet the boys, they are always happy to see me. They have liked me from day one. Moreover I think that the families felt very comfortable with me. With children I like to sing, to read books, to do handicrafts, make jigsaws. I often pick Sophia from school and Annika from the kindergarden. Then we always prepare the meal and eat together and after the meal we do homework for school. Moreover we play hide – and seek and play in the garden. I love playing games with them and helping them out when they need it. I truly enjoy caring for children, being a part of a child’s life and I love being with children, and feel exciting about having the opportunity to stay with a family in a different country. In my freetime I like to listen to music, go swimming and I like to go out with my friends, too. My friends are beside my family the most important persons in my life. We can talk about everything and we always are there for each other. I am a passionate reader and love to read all kinds of books. When I finish school I will make an internship in a hospital on the maternity ward. After the year in America it was my dream to start a training as a midwife or children’s nurse because it is my passion to work with children. I love and really enjoy spending time with them. However, because of my Neurodermatitis I can’t do that. I am an open-minded, responsible, friendly, helpful, trust-worthy and energetic person. I prefer open communication to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Furthermore, I really like to travel and I am able to adjust to new and unknown situations, places and people quite easily. That is why I want to become an au pair. In being an au pair in America I see the chance to develop my personality and I would bring to your family and open mind and hear. I expect new experiences like getting to know new people and of course I would love to become a part of your family! I am sure we will have a great time together. I would love to hear from you soon.
Katharina

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Olga and I was born on the 20th of June, 1984 in Kazakhstan. When I was nine years old my family moved to Germany. So I’m experienced with involving in a new culture. That’s why I think I wouldn’t have any problems leaving Germany to stay in the US for one year. Let me tell you a little bit about my family and home. I am living by my own since I am 18 years old. I live in a one-room apartment which my mom bought me. The city where I live is Duisburg. It’s a city in the Ruhr area and is famous for its inland harbor because it’s the biggest in the world. My parents are divorced since I am eleven years. Unfortunately I don’t have any connection to my father but I have a really close and warm relationship to my lovely mother Ella. She is very important to me. My mother is such a wonderful person who is always there for me. I am really happy about her support for my wish to become an Au Pair. I love spending time with my mom. Together we enjoy going out for dinner and to go shopping (she has a really good taste in fashion). Since I am 16 years old, I had the wish to become an Au Pair in the USA. Unfortunately it wasn’t possible to do that when I was younger. I think that every person should have a year abroad while they are young. There are many reasons why I want to be an Au Pair. First of all I LOVE children and I like to influence them in a positive way. I think that child raising experience may help me when I start my own family. Of course raising children isn’t always easy. For that reason kids need someone who is a good role model, who shows them what’s right and what’s wrong. I would be a good Au Pair because I think I’ve got the ability to empathize. That might be helpful to understand the child and show him/her that it is understood. When someone feels understood it’s the first step for finding a solution for problems. I’m also attentive. Kids love to get attention. What I also like to do is to show children new things and to teach them. It’s very important o me that activities are both fun and educational. We would attend museums, zoos, parks, the beach, playgrounds, malls and other events for kids (depending on the age of the kids). When we are at home we could play board games, read a nice book together or I would read out. I love baking, so we could do it together to surprise mom and dad. Another option would be doing some sports like swimming or playing with the ball. For giving you an impression of my personality I want to start telling you something about me. My friends would describe me as an open minded, reliable, responsible, loyally, positive and friendly young lady who is interested in getting to know places and people. In my free time I love doing sports like rebounding, swimming, biking and pilates. I also enjoy going for walks and being outside in the nature. It would be great if my host family was interested in a healthy way of life too. So we could exercise together. I love meeting my friends, going out for dinner, watching films at the cinema, shopping and fashion, reading a good book and travelling. My favorite places to go are beautiful tropical destinations. I am also very interested in getting to know new cultures and languages. During my au pair year I want to improve my English kills and take Spanish courses at college. I am very looking forward meeting new friends from all over the world and exploring the US. Now I would like to tell you something about my experience with children. In February 2010 I started taking care of my friend’s baby boy Gabriel who was 15 months at the beginning. My friend worked as a waitress so I stayed overnight at the weekends. During the days we go to the playgrounds and parks. Gabriel enjoys feeding ducks very much. When I am at home with him I like to read out for him and show him pictures in the book which I am reading. I prepare meals for him and feed him. I also change the diapers and bath the baby. I used to bring him to bed and helped him to fall asleep. Babies are so adorable and it’s amazing to see them grow and show them new things. Another childcare experience was during my practical training in a kindergarten from October 2007 till December 2007. There were about 16 children at the age of 2 to 6 in my group. During that practical training I learned to keep my eyes open to watch more kids at the same time. I helped preparing breakfast for the kids, we ate together, played board games, did some handicrafts, I used to read out for the children and I also used to look after them while they were playing outside. I enjoyed these weeks and it was a helpful experience for me to care for so many kids at the same time. After my Au Pair year I want to start studying business administration. If you are looking for an Au Pair to become a lovely part of your family, to be a big sister to your kids and to make them HAPPY, so I’m the perfect Au Pair for you. the wellbeing of your children would be my highest priority. My goal is to make your kids having fun with me that they look forward spending time with me. Children give me so much positive energy so for that reason it’s a joy for me spending time with them, giving them attention, teaching them and seeing them grow. No matter if you have babies or teenage kids, I’m pretty confident that they will have a great time with me. In conclusion I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better. I am looking forward being an au pair and also a family member in your family and to spend a great and unforgettable year.
Best regards,
Olga

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Gabriela. I’m 26 and live in Queretaro, a beautiful town 220 km. from Mexico City. I’m a typical girl about to get graduate from University, majoring in business. I’m very hard working, trustworthy, honest, active and fun girl who loves to see new places. I come from a very close family, who taught me values and gave me a wonderful childhood, my parents have worked since I have memory but they were always around looking after my brothers and i. I see myself as a warm person, reliable and easy to get along. I treasure my relationship with friends and family. I love music and literature, I play the violin and took guitar lessons. I spend a lot of my free time writing. I don’t exercise formally but I like to take long walks every day and play tennis as often as I can. I don’t drink or smoke, no one in my family does. I’m a creative person by nature; I just love being surrounded by colors, music, ideas, and arty stuff. I’ve had the chance to do some travelling and experience different cultures, I lived in Canada for about a year, immediately fell in love with the people and that nature has to offer. I met a wonderful family that trusted me to take care of their babies and took me into their house, we bonded nicely and I’m thankful to this day for their hospitality. To live away from my family gave me a lot of responsibility, not only with housekeeping duties, but with myself too. I learned a great lesson that year, and it was the beginning of changing my vision of the world and what I wanted my future to be. In my experience as an Au Pair I learned it’s all about being considerate and respectful, the rest comes naturally. Now, I’m excited about having the opportunity to join the program in the US. I’m looking for a home away from home, to be helpful, make friends and experience a different life style. I’m willing to open my heart to become a “big sister”. I love spending time with kids. It is amazing to me how smart and creative they are, the surprise me everyday with their innocent wisdom. They’re practical and honest, they just spread joy everywhere. We all should keep a bit of that (…or a lot). I can’t wait to my Au Pair life begin an to be a part of your family, as I promise I’ll take care of your children as mine. I’m sure it’ll be an amazing experience, you can count on me to give my best. Thank you for reading my letter. I would love to hear about your family.
Sincerely,
Gabriela

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
I hope this letter will help you to decide if am the right Au pair for you. First of all I would like to tell you something about me: My name is Sandra. I am living with my mom in Mannheim. My parents are divorced for 10 years but they are still friends. My Mom works at an office as a secretarian and my Dad works as a chemical crafter. I have 2 olders siblings: my sister Melanie is 25 years old and she works in a telecommunication and my brother Daniel is 22. He does an apprenticeship as a physiotherapist. I am the youngest in my family with 18 years. All of us have a good relationship towards each other and all of them do fully support my decision to become an Au Pair. in June 2009 I finished my General Certificate of Secondary Education. Since 2009 I am doing an intership at a day nursery. In my freetime I meet my friends or I spend time with my family, I enjoy going to the cinema, inline skating and reading books. Further I want to tell you a little bit more about my character. I am a person who likes to be in company. My family and friends are very important to me. I am a very open minded person, nice, friendly, responsible and a little sunshine. I got my driving license in November 2009. It is a lot of fun to me to drive. I drive 5 times a week. Driving long distances is no problem for me, too. Now I want to tell you something about my experience with children. I take care of Jayden Joel for 2 years. He is 2 years old. When I started to take of him he was 2 months old. I like to spend time with him very much. He is a little sunshine and his smile makes me really happy. We do so much together: grocery shopping, playing games, reading books together, walking in the forest, playing at a playground. I feed Jayden Joel, change his diapers or wash him before I bring him to bed. Since May 2009 I take care of the children from my neighbor. They have 3 children: Dominic 11 years old, Justina 8 years old and Alissa 6 years old. I have done homework with them, playing some games, cooking together, reading books together, paint some pictures or playing at the playground. It was the first experience for me with 3 children and it was fantastic because it is a lot of fun to me to play different games. I also was delighted to see that I can take care of more than just one child. And now, I want to tell you something about my experience in the day nursery. I take care of 10 children with 3 other employees. The children are between 6 months and 3 years old. I have learnd so many things from education, teaching and to take care of many children. It is really amazing to find out that every child has a different deployment, character and language development. Based on experience I have learned to be more self-confident in baby-sitting. And it makes me proud when a child says the word which he/she had learned from me. And I am happy that they children learned many new words from me or they learned that they shouldn’t do something that is wrong. Being an au pair is a dream of mine since I am 14 years old. I like to take care of children and I spend very much time with them. I think it’s a great oppurtunity to be an aupair in America because I want to improve my English and to get to know the “American Way of Life”. I know being an Au Pair in the United States will not be easy all the time but I am really looking forward to this experience. Further I believe that living in a foreign country for a longer period of time is an experience of life which will help me to see a lot of things in another way. Finally I can asure you that I will give my very best to get to know your children and to be a good au pair for them. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Your sincerely
Sandra

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
From the very start I should say that it is not an easy thing to speak about myself as it is hard to have a look at yourself from aside, but at the same time who knows you better than you yourself do? My name is Ania Melneva. I’m 20 years old. My native town is Rivne and I live in flat. Also I have a pet dog – Ferrari. My town is situated in the west of Ukraine. It’s population is about 200 000 inhabitants. It is really calm and beautiful. Also it has really developed infrastructure. Also Rivne has some own universities and institutes. The nature near the town is very beautiful. We have forest near my town and beautiful lakes. I am sociable, so I have got a lot of friends among my mates. As for me I appreciate people's hornesty, kindness, sense of justice and intelligence. I don't like when people are rude and aggressive. My friends often share their problems and secrets with me as they know that they can trust me. Now a few words about my inclinations. I haven't got any special hobby, like collecting something but I'm fond of reading books. They give me more knowledge of their people's lives and feelings and broaden my outlook. In my opinion, books are a source of emotional inspiration and romantic feeling. Besides, books help me to continue my own education. The time spend on a good book is never wasted. Reading is a rewarding pasting. I have not much time to watch TV but sometimes I spend an hour or two watching an interesting film or a news programme. My mother’s name is Tatyana. She has her own case in business. She is 39 now. She taught me to keep high moral values. My Mom is very neat person. She builds her career, but along with that she tries to spend a lot of time with her family. My father’s name is Mykhailo. He is 48. He worked as a engineer for a long time. Right now he is on pension. As he has much free time he likes to go fishing, also he likes to travel. Also I have relatives who have children. So I usually spend my free time with them. At first I just visited them and stayed with them for some hours at home. But now I spend more time with them. For harmonious development of children I take them in different groups. My niece is a schoolgirl. Every monday I take my niece to the gym and every friday we visit swimming pool with her. Recently I taught her to skate. Also I have Ferrari, small dog, but I consider her as member of family. I was given it on my birthday. I take Ferrari everywhere I go. It likes to ride in a car a lot. Also she likes to sleep in the car. But she is not lazy, and also likes to play with me. My friends and I take care of it, feed it and play. Also Ferrari likes to swim and bath a lot. She behaves well with other people, even if they are strange to him. As you see each member of my family is different, but when we gather together, we all have really good time. My family does not smoke. However my father used to smoke, but he quitted after he got in to pension, partly because he understood that it is a bad habit that influences both his life and our lives. My family keeps Ukrainian traditions a lot. As my father likes to travel we usually travel with him. We visited some countries and many cities of Ukraine, visited the Carpathians mountains, Crimea. As my mother fond of art we visited Tretyakov Gallery in Moskov. We spend there all day and it was very exited. Also we have many pictures at home as my great-grandfather was artist. This year I am going to graduate Rivne Institute of Slavonik Studies of Kyiv Slavonik University. I will obtain a diploma “Specialist of international relationship”. My profession is connect with foreign languages, journalism, PR technologies and advertisement. During my studying, we met different foreign students and also ambassadors from some countries. Sometimes we had met politicians at institute. Also I attended youth and public organization “Euro club”. There we discussed problems of our town and found decisions of them. We do interesting activities and projects for children and youth of our town there. After every succesful event we organize different parties like a masquerade ball. I like to spend a lot of time with my friends when I have a lot of free time. We like to go to the lake, swim there. Also we like to make barbecue somewhere in the forest, or meadow. Sometimes we visit cinema or interesting perfomance in the theater. Also I like to organize different parties with my friends. Speaking about my future host family I would like to share with you my beliefs and traditions and learn yours. I would like to learn your ways of taking care about children, also I would like to improve my knowledge of English and experience myself in new environment. I would be glad to communicate with any family that will be interested in me and I promise to answer you all requests.

Dear Host Family,
I am Martha R Alvarez Serrano, I am a girl who loves to live happy, gather good experiences for my life, work to make my dreams come true, share my culture, help poor children and study really hard. I was born in Barroncabermeja – Colombia, a little city where the people are friendly and hard working. I am studying medicine and I am in the 12th semester. I work in the Fundacion Cardiovascular de Colombia. For the past six months I have worked in Neuropediatrics specialty, mainly in the subject related with childrens growth and development and I love it. I live with my mom, my sister and step father. My mother is a dentist, she has her own practice. My father died in an airplane crash. My step father is a petroleum engineer, and he works in a company. My sister is 12 years old, she is studing in the New Cambridge school. When I told my parents about the program, they were really happy for me, because they think that I’m going to learn a lot of things during this experience and it will help become a better person. Also, they know that I enjoy spending time with kids. I try to exercise every morning, because I like to feel healthy and have a good life. I enjoy the active life; I like to do different things all day long. My favorite sports are gymnastics and tennis. I am aware I will travel to U.S.A. to take care children, share my time with a host family, respect their rules, and study English and I want to do it. I hope and I want my experience in this wonderful program will be healthy, active and happy and I want to return to my home country talking English perfectly and being a better person to finish my career. Thank you for the opportunity.

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
I am a Chinese girl of 21 years old. My Chinese name is Zhou Juan, you can also call me Jenny, my English name. I am confident that you would be interested in me after having gone through my self-introduction. The reason why I want to be an Au-pair is that this will be a precious experience in my life. I’m very interested in your country’s culture which is very different from ours as people from different races have different religions, custom, beliefs, morals, arts, and behavioral patterns, etc. This is truly something fascinating me that Au-pair program offers. I want to witness the growth of foreign children and learn through the valuable process as an Au-pair such as how a kid is raised up in the U.S. culture. When I end my au-pair life in the future, I will go back to China and show Chinese children your advanced educational concepts and seek a job where English is their major working language. Then, I believe I am a good child carer. I majored in nursing when I was a university student and graduated last summer. I had practiced in a big hospital in Beijing for one full year which game me so much clinical experience. I also had the experience of volunteering in a kindergarten for 2 months in addition to taking care the children of my neighbors. From that experience I also know how a child thinks and how to communicate with him/her effectively. If we understand their psychology, it will be easier to be his/her friend and give them a happy childhood through our accompanying. In addition to being well prepared and getting more professional experience for my Au-pair life, after graduation, I specially took a job of taking care of a 8-month-old baby for 7 months. The experience gave me some more understanding in childcare. Now, I can say I am experienced in childcare both practically and theoretically. Now let me show you my interests and hobbies. If you had ever watched the film The Sound of Music, I would say I am a person resembling Sister Maria. Even though I can not sing that well, I love both music and life itself. When I was in my university, I always participated in the ballroom dance party on Saturday nights. These are three necessities in my life are music, books and sports activities. On tranquil nights, I enjoy sot and gorgeous piano music works. As for books, I am not picky at all; I love books of diversified categories such as novels, essays, poems. Some daily-life-related magazines offer many useful daily life tips and recipes of healthy eating which are very practical. As far as sports activities are concerned, my interesting is kind of all inclusive. I ride bike a lot as a sort of exercise, for example I often go out for dinner by bike with my friends on weekends. Playing badminton, my favorite, ping-pong, basketball are compulsory in my life. So I enjoy my life! I should show you my personality now. in my big family, I live with my grandparents, my parents, two sisters and one little brother. My sisters took care of me when I was little and I certainly know I should care my little brother. This helps me to be easy going in my life. I was educationed by my grandparents and my parents when I was a child that we should realize his own value and try to help others. I could never forget the words that my father told me just what the ugly girl Betty’s father told her with is “strong, brave, optimistic, cheerful, passionate”. I love my family so much! I’m a sober minded person in case of some emergency pops up. No matter what happens, I would try my best to love them. The ability is derived from my experience as an organizer when I was in my university. I am also a confident and persistent person. My motto is “When there is a will, there is a way.” I still remember an instance when I was a freshman in my university. We had a race competition of 800 meters running and were required to run over in a certain time. At the beginning, I failed to manage to do that. However, I refused to give up. I believed I would improve as long as I practiced every day. I finally met the requirement after many morning’s practice. I don’t believe luck and I am the person who believes that fate is mastered in our own hands. I wish to assure you that, if successfully accepted as a member in your family, I would endeavor to give you every satisfaction.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and courtesy.
Juan

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
Hi, how are you? I hope you and your family are happy and healthy. Let me introduce myself. My name is Pasatorn Pinkij. My nickname is Apple. It’s a bit of a strange name I know but Thais have different ideas about giving names than some other cultures. My dad loves apples so he and my mum decided to name me after this very popular fruit. I am 24 years old and I’m from Bangkok, Thailand. I live with my mother. I also have 2 older sisters and older brother. They are all married. My family history is a bit confusing and not easy to explain because when I was still very small I moved between my mother and my grandmother in different homes. I went to stay with my grandmother when I was only 3 months old because she was better able to care for me at that time. She have a lovely big house in Ayuttaya, the ancient capital of Thailand before Bangkok. It is usual for Thais to share family responsibilities if money is scarce. We do what we can to support each other. That is how we show our love – by helping each other. In Thailand we don’t have strong social security system like western countries so family is very, very important. My mother is 53 years old. She is a housekeeper for a small English language school. She works very hard. My father is 55 years old. He and my mum are separated and I don’t have much relationship with him. I am sorry for that. My mum has taught me always to work hard. To be fair, honest and responsible. If I made mistakes when I was young, she would explain to me where I went wrong. If I made the same mistake again, she would punish me by stopping my pocket money, ground me and not let me watch TV. But mum never hit me. That is not the way she taught me. She try talking to me, explain to me why I was wrong. I hope I could add some of my mum’s techniques with your own requirement and expectation of taking care of your child/children. At this time I work during the day and study at night. I am study a bachelor degree in tourism and hotel management. I hope in the future to work in tourism industry because I really like helping people. I would love to introduce international tourists to my beautiful country and share Thai experiences. We Thai people are very friendly, gentle, very patient and welcoming people. It is in the Thai nature to take good c are of people. It does not matter where they come from or what is there culture or religion. I have had quite a lot of experience of caring for young children. I studied at a royal program sponsored boarding school for underprivileged children from primary grade 1 to high school grade 6. I must work at the school as part of my study agreement. Boarding students must help a lot with school. When I was in primary grade 6 I must take care of the younger students in grades 1 to 5. I would get up at 5am every morning to prepare the children for school. I would bathe the little ones, help them dress and pack their bags. When my own day was done I would have to clean and help younger kids with their homework. I have also had a lot of experience caring for my older sister’s children. One of my sisters has two children and my other sister has one child. During the time I was studying accounting at vocational college I took care of my sister’s two children who were 8 and 10 years of age. I would cook their meals, play games with them, help them with their homework and put them to bed. When my other sister had her first child I would care for her during the weekend. A year after that my other sister had a second child who I also helped care for. I have also cared for very young infants from 3 months to 7 months old. As you will know, babies this young need constant care and supervision. They are so helpless and tiny. I am very patient person and love caring for children of all ages. Children are still so pure. They are our future. I believe we can have a positive impact on the kind of people they grow up to be based on early life experience. I feel proud to have the opportunity to do this very important job of caring for infants and young children. Even with very young babies who won’t remember me later I still feel so happy to have had some part of their care and nurture. Altogether I have had well over 800 hours child care experience. I think the au pair program is a wonderful opportunity for me because it will give me a chance to experience culture and society of United States in the form of something I love to do – caring for children. Why do I choose the United States? I believe that I can experience what is really mean the idea of freedom in America. Thailand is also a democratic, free country and tolerant of others. But we still are not quite open as America in the way of social equality and fairness for all level of society. I believe America can give me the true experience of this idea.

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Shanshan Li. After I graduated from high school, I attended Jinzhou Health School and graduated from that school in 2006 and ever since has been becoming a maternal nurse at Amcare Women’s & Children’s Hospital ( A jointly run American style hospital between America and China) in Beijing, the capital of China. My father is a doctor and my mother is a housewife. When I was a little child, my parents really cared about what kid of person I will be when I grow up. Whenever it was possible, they would let me play with my friends to learn to cooperate; they encouraged me to join in some volunteering groups in school to help those in needs so that I learnt to be a caring person. They never pushed me too hard in terms of school performance, rather they’d’ like me become a very happy person. I can be proud to say that I am a cheerful, open-minded, girl and I am proud to be a very caring nurse. In terms of what I do every day now, I am working in the delivery room at Amcare as a maternal nurse. I feel very happy when I hear the first cry of a newborn who is welcomed to the world by my hands during which I can smell the wonder of a new life. After finishing nursing care of the umbilical cord and cleaning up the thick vernix coseosa with peanut oil, I witness the happiness on the face of a proud mother who is kissing her cute clean baby. Life is a wonder, life is a blessing! Other than daily maternal nurse routine, I am also the administrative assistant of the head nurse in our department, assisting things like arranging schedule, gathering clinical date, training new nurses and introducing the hospital to visitors. I was an editor of a student magazine and the commissary in charge of publicity in a student organization when I was a college student. In my spare time, I like reading a lot and I am good at Chinese calligraphy. Going gym and running or jogging is also something important I do daily. I also play baseball and practice yoga. Whenever I get the chance for me to go camping with my friends, I will be well-planned and make a detailed schedule to make sure the activities will go smoothly. As I am away from home and live on my own, I am a independent person. As a gain from being far away from home town, I cook Chinese food well. In my friends and roommates’ eyes, I am an open-minded, responsible and kind-hearted girl. I should admit that this might be something related to my profession. Caring children is one of the most exciting things I have passion for. What fascinates me the most is the valuable experience and the satisfaction I gained from those activities. When I was in health school, I had taken care of some kids in our neighborhood. The caring strategies I used were different among boys and girls. Girl usually loves dolls and beauty is a must. Understanding this, I dressed the girls well and made them beautiful every day. Other than this, working together with the children, I “tailored” beautiful clothes for those dolls and even tried creatively to make cheongsams for them. For boys who are usually naughtier and like risk-taking, safety consideration is a must. Praising them generously for even the smallest achievement and letting them feel they are the best are very important. My experience with a two year old is something I will keep in my mind forever. A little girl who was just 20 months old was crying a lot when her mom left her at the kindergarten and she preferred staying on her own. When I joined the caring them, I found that even though she did not like to play with other kids a lot, she did not mind other children playing with her own toys. I praised her for her generosity and tired to talk with her. Gradually she would approach me and “complained” others. I then encouraged her to mix with other kids and let other kids invite her to play with them. At the beginning she seemed to feel uneasy, gradually I saw her a very happy real “team player”! I was really happy that the little girl could finally enjoy being in the kindergarten. When her mother asked me why her daughter liked me so much and would like to stay with me for some extra minutes when she picked her daughter up, I smiled and a sense of happiness rose in my heart. My present job is to take care of the newborn in the hospital, part of wich includes educating and assisting the mother for breast-feeding, bathing the babies, feeding formula to the babies who are not breast-feed. Different from older babies, newborns cannot talk; rather they depend on body language. It is crucial to observe attentively and carefully. When he/she cries, first check the nappy to see if it is soiled; if it isn’t, the maybe he/she is hungry; or has a fever? If it is still not the cause, pick him/her up, rock in arms and touch the head to make him/her feel safe. If none of the action is working, he/she still cries for extended time and with high-pitch, then seeking medical attention is required. If you offer me the privilege to be a member in your family, I promise I will take good care of your kid(s), make sure they are safe. If they need help for school work, I would love helping them out. By the way, my math is good and your kids’ math will improve a lot if there really is such a help required. If you like and your kids do not mind, I will also share some Chinese culture with them such as telling them some folk stories popular in China, writing some Chinese character and even trying to speak a little Chinese. Other than taking good care of your kids, I will use the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends and do a good job in the university I will attend. The au pair program suits me well not only because it gives me an opportunity to stay with lovely children but also allows me to experience your unique culture. The invaluable experience I may gain from joining your family will also kick start my career in China with advantage after I finished this program and return to China. Please give me a favorable consideration and I will do a job beyond your expectation.
Thank you and Best wishes,
Shanshan Li

Dear Host Family,
Hi dear family! My name is Alexandra and I’m looking forward to come into your family! I’m 24, I live in small town on Azov sea called Berdyansk (Ukraine) with my mom Tetyana, brother Igor and grandparents. They are veterans of World War II. My parents divorced when I was 3. But I’m still a happy “child.” Because my mom was given so much love and attention to me and my brother every day of our life. What can I tell about myself? Well, I’m friendly, cheerful and sociable girl. I like to spend time with interesting people and to learn new things. Since I was 13 I’ve played in a basketball team. We’ve traveled a lot around Ukraine and participated in different competitions and championships. When I was 17 I attended the University on language and Literature department and had to lift my team. But basketball is still my hobby and I love this game! I also enjoy reading, dancing, rollerblading, volleyballing and many other activities. My mother worked as a teacher for 25 years. Now she is 50 and she is retired. I think the ability to work with kids I inherited from her. in 2006 – 2007 I worked as a teacher in kindergarten “Kalinka.” My class was pretty big – 22 kids! Sometimes it was hard to control them, to catch their eyes, to maintain order in class. But I liked this job and it was a great experience for me! In January 2007 Tanya was born. When she was 2 months I had become her godmother. And when she was 9 months her parents moved to the house next door. Since then I was spending all my free time with Tanya. I was feeding her, playing games, reading, changing diapers, bathing, etc. Now she is 3. Tanya is very bright and cute girl. And I love this kid like my own! Recently I’ve decided to go to the United States as an Au Pair. this trip is a great opportunity for me to get more experience in childcare, to improve my English and to learn more about American culture. I hope we’ll spend a great year together and become good friends!
Sincerely,
Alexandra Tsogla

Dear Host Family,
Hi, my name is Maru, I’m a 22 years old and I live in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico. My mother’s name is Maria Eugenia and I live with her and with my brother Alejandro who is two years older than me. I’m very attached to them; definitely they are my best friends because I can talk about everything with them and they give me wise counsels. My father’s Emilio and I see him almost every day, he sees me like his little princess and I love to go out with him. I am currently studying my Degree in Education Science, and at the same time I am specializing in the Montessori teaching method. I chose this career because I love kids, and because I know that they are our future, and that for this reason, I think that it is important that we guide them and understand their necessities, so that when they group up, they will be great persons who care about their environment and their societies. For this, I want to work in “au pair,” to help kids in their growth, and to be part of them for a period of time. I think I can teach them many different things, and I think that I’ll learn a lot from them too when I have the chance to meet them. This opportunity is going to enrich my career and my life. Also, this opportunity will let me be more independent, I’ll improve my English skills, I’ll learn from another culture, I’ll travel and I’ll make new friends. My plans when I finish my year as an au pair are to finish my degree in education, and to start a master. I consider myself as a responsible, patient, creative, friendly, funny and respectful person. My hobbies are to read, cook, and to walk in the park. I love every kind of food. I really like to go to family reunions, and of course to go out with my friend, I know them since junior high school and we do everithing together, all Wednesdays we hang out so we take a cup of coffe and update about our life and also we go out during the weekends to the movies and clubs. Dear Host Family,
Mi name is Veronika Anaid Garcia Figueroa im 22 years old. At my young age I consider myself a person with enough experience. I think I’m very lucky to have a very close family that supports me in all my decision and has instilled in me the values that make me an emotional person, respectful and caring. Since I’m a little girl I’m very active so my mom decided to enroll me in dance class and music to tap in to this energy. Thanks God I’ve been always surrounded by positive people who encouraged me to go ahead. By the way, at school I had the opportunity to be involved in activities that were part of a comprehensive training that allowed me to form habits in me as it is: order, discipline, fortitude, perseverance and honesty. At the same time it allowed me to create positive interpersonal relationships that had a major impact on my personality in a way that influenced the security that I have to achieve my goals, to be an extrovert and empathic person. On the other hand the choice of my professional career was born since the birth of my youngest brothers, helping my parents with the chores and needs they had. At age of 17, I was invited as an assistant teacher at a private school: My Small English School in which I learned as much about me, and the attention that a child needs, I worked there for a year with children from 3-9 years. Coming out of high school at my 18 years, I moved to Tucson to start college, I gave tutoring in my apartment to 2 children aged 8 and 10, I took the ESL course at Pima College. At 19 I moved to Hermosillo to know another city, make more friends and begin my career in psychology, I have no problems adapting to new places so the change was a simple and fun process, at 8 months one of my teacher so the career saw my potential and she offered me a job at the center of the stimulation of intellects named; After School. In which I grew up professionally. Start providing advice and study skills for children 6 to 14 years, after I was given the charge of coordination of the area of English and assistant psycho-educational, in a year and four months working there because of changes on schedule in school I had to quit my job. My students, parents and my boss recommended me on one of the best private schools here in Hermosillo: Liceo Thezia, has been a great experience and got very good results, as well as the acceptance by my students, parents and bosses. To conclude, working with children is one of the best opportunities I’ve had, energizes me, keep me active and happy, is a great satisfaction to belong to his world, support their training and achieve their goals. As a professional achievement I would like to mention that I have worked on the development of children with hyperactivity, stress, anxiety and attention deficit, one of my biggest challenges was a child with Asperger’s, this was a unique experience that required a lot of dedication, effort, patience and creativity. Thank God I can tell that the results were satisfactory and till this day my students improved their quality of life and they are a happy children.
Thanks for your attention
Veronika

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Ying Pan. I’m 23 years old. I graduated from Dalian Secondary Vocational and Technical School of Tourism in 2005. I majored in tourism. I am a cheerful, easy going, open-minded, responsible girl. Ahh, I forget to say I like kids very much. I love children as their simplicity and loveliness may bring job. He (she) is just like an angel brings love warmth and happiness to his (her) family. I come from Jinzhou. It’s in the northeast of China. It is a small city. But the four seasons here are very obvious. I have a great family of three members: my father, my mother and me. My father works in a hotel, while my mother is a housewife. My mother and father love me very much and I love them very much too. I’m glad that I have a happy family. I am the only child in my family, but I don’t feel lonely because I have a good friend: a dog named Naonao. He is so lovely that we like him very much. I am an extrovert, passionate and independent girl. So I left my hometown in 2002 to study in Dalian, a city which is many miles away from my hometown. I believe that it was a good opportunity to become independent, handle things on my own and improve my communication skills with people. In this period of time I also learned to cook. These experiences is very precious in my life. After graduation, I have been working in Dalian ever since. I like this city because it is the second hometown to me. Also I know some good friend there. Taking care of their lovely kids makes me get a lot of valuable experiences. I have some hobbies such as listening to music; making some art crafts, reading books, travelling, going for outdoor sports etc. My favorite activity is to make handicrafts for children who like it very much. They also bring enormous fun for them while they play. In my free time I also make some lovely things to give to kids as those things make children so happy. When I see them happy, I am happy too. I like learning draw some lovely pictures. These pictures not only make the children learn some useful knowledge, but also bring a lot of joy for the children and myself in this process. I think the world has no bad child but incorrect methods of education. If we use correct methods in taking care of children I think every child will be a happy angel in his (her) family. Though taking care of these kids, I have gained some experience for communicating well with the children as well as their parents. I think being an Au pair in a country like the United States will allow improving myself even more. Taking care of kids also has to be creative. I remember when I took care of my friend’s son who hated eating vegetables, even though my friend persuaded a lot, her son still was very reluctant to eat them. My friend got very angry. I said to her “please let me find a way” Then I found some beautifully shaped vegetables; for example like tree, like butterfly, like sun etc. He liked the process of shaping the vegetables. We can also find another method to cook it. Such as putting some colorful vegetables together, adding ketchup and doing a barbecue. My friend’s babies ate them up very happily. My friend said to me that I was so smart to resolve this tricky matter efficiently. If you can accept me as member of your family. I will make your baby happy and safe. I will make some lovely handicrafts with her (him). If you have some questions I will answer you patiently. I know a lot of story to tell your children at any time. I don’t know whether you like Chinese food or not? If you like it, in my free time I can cook some Chinese food for you and your family. This au pair program lets me learn more about the different customs in different places while to improve my English as well. Also it give me some opprtunities to have experiences of taking care of kids from different countries and making me know more about children from different aspects. This is a valuable and interesting experience in my life. I think these valuable experiences will be very usefull in my future life and help me a lot in my work. I want to be in an administration position in a China and foreign country jointly owned company or an international tourism agency as administrative staff after I finish this program, so the experience as an Au Pair is very important for me. I hope I have a chance to become a member of your family! Thank you for your time reading my letter and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Please give my best wishes to your family!
Ying Pan

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Yuliya. I am 21 years old. I am originally from the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. My country is very rich with its culture and traditions. One can find beautiful mausoleums, museums and ancient castles in the most ancient cities of Central Asia: Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva. Uzbekistan is also famous with it sunny bazaars overfulled with natural fruits and vegetables. Also Uzbek food is famous with its delicious taste. I wish you could taste the most delicious Uzbek dishes “Pilov” and “Samsa”. Every man and woman knows how to cook these dishes. Currently, I’m living with my family: Mom, Dad and my cat, which treats itself as a most important member of the family. My Mom is a desighner, and my Dad is a cabinet-maker. In short I can describe myself as an extrovert type of person, who always enjoy communication with different people all over the world. I always try to be positive, patient and respectful to different opinions. I am fond of sport and my hobbies. I love painting, sketching since my early age. That’s the way I can express my world. Nothing can tell you more then pictures of the person, even though you are not expert of art. Moreover, since 5 years old I was in rhythmic gymnastic. And nowadays I am fond of yoga and Tai Chi, which helps me to maintain equilibrium and health. I also enjoy reading and listen to the music. I’ve been studying at the International Business School “Kelajak Ilmi”, BA Marketing. Unfortunately, my school was closed this year and I didn’t graduate it. While I was a student, I participated in a social project “They need your help” under SIFE program (Students in Free Enterprise). This project was concentrated on children from orphan’s houses. I had been working in three orphan’s houses, one of which was for kids with physical and mental problems (disabled kids). It was so unbelievable to work there and I just felt that they really need my help and support. So I couldn’t abandon them. I was teaching them how to paint twice a week. I’ve noticed that everytime these kids were waiting for my lessons and that was the best reward for me. After some time when we had enough pictures, I organized art exhibitions. We were selling pictures at this exhibitions and money earned was sent to the orphan’s houses. Honestly, I can say that it was a great time for me, and unforgettable experience! I always enjoy being next to the children and since 16 years old I have been working with children. I have also completed courses of Home Nurse as well as private lessons with children’s therapist. Moreover, when I was 16, during summer break, I was helping my friend in kindergarten (for kids 6 month – 3 years old.) I was mainly looking after kids during their game time, helping with feeding and taking to work. Next year I went to work as a counselor in a child resort. I had a group of kids (boys and girls) 5-8 years old. I was taking care of them during entertainment, swimming, games, etc. I believe, it was a wonderful time for me and for them. Also I worked as a private nanny in different families with children aged from 5 months up to 12 years old. I was taking care of the kids everyday during the day time. I gave every help to the mothers of the children by feeding, bathing, putting to bed, playing, taking to walk and entertaining. I really enjoy to see their happy smiles. Although in a short letter it is hard and not possible to express everything about me, I hope you became interested and will contact me to discuss the details. I am particularly interested in infand child care, as I believe this is one of the most important time for children for building personality, character and habits. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Yuliya

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
Hello my name is Sarah Pacheco and I barely have 20 years old. I’ve lived in Hermosillo Sonora Mexico, all my life, one of the sunniest places in the world, I live with my mother, a woman who taught me how to dream and work for the things that I want. I’m her only daughter. I’m Currently Studying advertising and marketing in college and I’m coursing the 2 semester. My passion has always been advertising and marketing design. My goal in life is to be a great publicist, if God gives me life I would open my own agency or I will be the happiest person working for an important advertising agency. Since being a Little girl, I’ve been learning English in different schools, from kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school. I like spending my free time with my friends because I’ve learned a lot from them, also spent time doing design work for school or just relaxing in the afternoon at my cousin's home taking care of her children. I am currently a volunteer youth group called "Jovenes Telemax". What we do is help those in need through publicity campaigns and donations from the community and our goal is to create awareness among the youth about the importance of helping others. I consider myself a quiet, friendly, outgoing, dreamer, eager to live and learn, I'm excited even think about meet other cultures. I’m the type of person that is really happy and smiles while taking care of children and that is always ready to roll on the floor, draw with them, play hide and seek or whatever they want or I come up with. I’m healthy, and I don’t have any bad habits. I would love the opportunity to be an au pair because I can deal with kids and like it very much. Furthermore it will be a big opportunity to improve my English skills. I like children, and I like American culture. If I become one of your family members, I will take good care and cook delicious food for them. I will tell them interesting stories and play games with them. This will be my happiest year. I am confident that I have best character and ability. I have strong adaptability and can adapt to changes very soon, and live like your family member. I've always liked children and as I am an only child I always wanted to have a little brother. I love spending time with children because it is very impressive how fast they grow, and learn to walk, talk, eat alone, then is when you realize that time passes very quickly and you always have fun around them. They are very intelligent and for me that is an opportunity to learn and grow as a person. As they say "take the child in you." A child makes me very happy. I try to became a good friend for a kid; to help him and support’em. I understand that a child’s development mostly depends on people around them, their actions. The upbringing affects, the formation of the personality and we should always remember that. I’m ready to become a child’s every day influence in life. I have a nephew (my cousin's son ) currently has 2 years, I love him, he’s one of the most important persons in my life because despite being a child of such small age he is always learning , having fun he lives every day as the only day in his life. I love spending time with him. I could spend all day with my nephew. I understand him, I know him too well, what he likes, what's bothering him, I always try to keep him having fun, and the best part it is to feed him we make that time like it was part of a game. Everyday He makes me smile for more than 15 hours, I just love spending time with him, it challenges my energy and stamina greatly, sometimes I really felt very tired, but when I saw how athletes sttrugle on the playground, I must learn from them and go on. Though this experience, I get to know how to keep on going and never give up in any instance. I will never forget this experience of only one time in my life. I used to be a tutor for English classes for several students, whose ages were from 8 to 10. In this way, I am quite familiar teaching children and communicate with them. I have many beautiful experiences with the children and I want to continue to teach and learn with them. I'll give the best that I have because I love children and I want to serve them and make sure they’re happy. I would like to participate this program very much because in this program I may find a combination of three important things for me which are: spending time with children, meeting a new culture, and improving in English. I hope to find a friendly family and share nice moments with them and hopefully you will give me the opportunity to share this year with you.

I like to go to beach with children. We run along the beach, pick shells and listen to the singing conch. We also like manual works, I think this is very important for the children to development. I’m very creative and I am able to plan kinds of activities for the children. I did many funy and interesting things in my spare time too. I am fan of pottery too. Although there is only enough time to do simple hand – Tao, I think the most important lesson is in the detailed exercises and to grasp the feeling of making pottery. Sometimes I would spend an afternoon in the Tea House, enjoy the tea experience gives me a quiet and reflection. I was an intern in the kindergarten at 9/2006 – 12/2006, my main responsibility was to accompany the children with their class, take good care of their naps and play games with them. Then I served as an education consultant in an educational institution, mainly offering guidance for children of different ages on learning and choosing course. Form this period to now I’ve been going to the welfare center s a volunteer to look after the disable children on weekends. I sing and dance for them are totally paralyzed. Sometimes, I massage them because some of them are totally paralyzed. Sometimes, I also go to the hospital to see the children with leukemia. The premise is that I am health encourage because they have weak immune system. Although that I do is normal and simple, I want to help them. I want to bring them happiness and meanwhile, it brings happiness to me too. I have taken care of a girl in the summer of 2002, her name is Zirui Fan, and that time she was only 5 years old. She is a cute baby but when having meals. She always ran around everywhere. Usually she needed to spend about two hours for a meal which made her mother exhausted. One day, when we fed her, she ran as usual. So I asked her “Do you remember when you watch the Animal world, how the tiger eat?” Zirui said, “The tiger open his mouth big.” (Zirui is very love the tiger) I said to her, “Open your tiger-like mouth and eat your meal up.” It worked and Zirui stated her meal without running. I like to stay with children. In the children’s innocent eyes, the life full of love, full of sunshine. Looking at their innocent smiling faces, I feel like I am child them. Because I have professional knowledge on Mental Health Education, I like to observe the children’s every movement. I like to answer children’s questions. They always ask “why” constantly. So I can maintain a curious heart, discover with them, and explore the world together. Childhood is a carefree, beautiful memories, so I cherish every moment with the kids. As an au-pair, I am clear that my main responsibility is to take care of your children. I enjoy the time with children and I would love to share burden with you. Although I received my driver’s license just last year, my driving is reliable. I go to the driving school 3 time a week. I also drive a friend’s care to practice 1-2 times a week, two hours each time. The reason I want to be an Au-pair is that I want a new and different life, to meet all the challenges, learn American culture and meet new people. When I return to China, I will continue to finish my studies. I belives this will be a good chance to enrich my life. Being with you in the USA would an unforgettable experience. I look forward to working with you. You will not only be my host family but my friends also. And if you come to visit Jilin I’ll be glad to be your host, just as you may do for me.

My name is Yishan Wang, a 23-year-old sunny girl, I live in Shenyang, northeast of china. I graduated from Shenyang Agricultural University in 2009 with a bachelor degree and my major is finance. Then, I entered an enterprise and my job is the secretary of the chairman. I am more mature and self-confidence for my full time work. At the university, I like to participate in various activities. In 2006, I was honored to become a volunteer for Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition. I serviced visitors around the world, the basic quality requirements of volunteers including mandarin, foreign language, common sense and proper appearance. I worked for 10 hours everyday, but I never feel tired because helping others made me much happier. I began to learn dancing and accordion when I was still in a kindergarten, and I love singing and modeling when I grow older. In my second year of the college, I attended the first session of the School Fashion Design Contest, and honored to become the top 10 model. I am also a sports enthusiast. I like skating, swimming, playing table tennis. I was on school team from primary school to high school, especially good at short race and hurdle race. Sports not only make good achievements, temper the good health, also develop a strong self-confidence of my own personality. During my spare time, I like travelling, driving, skating, playing, playing with kids, cooking, watching movies etc. Because of widely interests, I have made many friends. When I was sophomore in the college, I began learn to drive, because I used to pay more attention when others drive, so it was not difficult for me. 3 months later, in 2007, I got a driver’s license. After I got my license, I started to practice driving. My father is my coach, he was very strict with me and he told me safety is always the most important. Under his guidance my driving skills became better and better. Now I can drive to and from my university, which is in another city away from my home and my strict father can now feel comfortable and relaxed with my driving. Sometimes, I drive my friends to the suburb. I enjoy the feeling of driving. So I am confident about my driving skills, but I know that there must be some differences between driving in China and in the USA, so I would like to learn about the American requirements in order to drive safely in the US if needed. I have a nice family. There are four members in my family, my father, my mother, my lovely dog and I. My father is a government officer and mother is a bank staff. Although I am the only child of my parents, I have 4 younger cousins. Every time when we get together, I take good care of them, teach them idioms or a little English, play games or do some outdoor sports. If we don’t get together for a long time, we will miss each other very much. Last year, my family moved in a new apartment, my neighbor was a young lady with a 1-year-old girl. She was always busy with her work and couldn’t spend much time on her baby. So I often helped her to take care of her daughter in my spare time. On weekends, I usually stayed with the little girl for a whole day since her mother had to be away on work. I did cooking, feeding, changing diapers, lulling her to sleep and playing wither. Though sometimes a little tired, I felt enjoyable and fulfilled. She seemed to have the talent of dancing. When I played songs with strong musical rhythm, she would move her hands and feet to the music. In my eyes, she is the most beautiful dancer. And I really enjoyed watching her dancing and laughing. When I arrive at my host family I would like to be an older sister to the kids, taking care of them, accompanying them, guiding them and helping them. And I also would like to do some light homework as the aupair regulation requires. If you are interest in Chinese culture, I would like to share some with your family. When I heard the word of “aupair”, I was attracted by the program deeply. The most attractive point is that I could experience America culture personally, and improve my English. I would like to make new friends and I also want to enrich my mind in another country. I love kids. I have the experience with kids before, and I have strong communication skills. I am confident that I will do a great job as an au pair.
Best regards
Yishan Wang

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
Hello, my name is Deysi Abigail Pacheco Silvestre. I am from Hermosillo, a city located in the northwestern part of Mexico. I am a 21 years old girl, who tries her best to understand and speak English. Even when I have taken English classes, my performance of the language is not the best. I also like to know people wherever they might be from, and I would be very glad to know people from another culture, like yours. For these and many other reasons I got into this program and I would really like you to accept me, you will not regret it. I have been studying my career in Marketing, but this year I decided to do something different. Enrolling into this program will give me experience and will change my way of seeing things. In the meanwhile, I have been working in a cafeteria-shop at the local airport, since this place is near to my home. There I see how people travel and go to other cities or countries, so I thought: “If other people can go to other cities, why can’t I?” I found Au-Pair Foundation and I thought that I would be really cool travel somewhere else doing something I like and stay there for a while knowing about the culture and language. I like children a lot; I have experience taking care of them. S starting since I was very young, I took care of my youngest brothers and occasionally my neighbor’s kids. Eventually when I grew up some more years, there were some more people who would ask me to take care of their children. You might be wondering why I like kids. Well, I find them very interesting, weather having I little baby in my arms or having kids running around me playing and hanging around. I see that they are innocent, funny and they can have a good behavior just saying the right thing. So, you see? I find certain connection with them. Because some people say that they are able to take care of a child, but I say that this is not as easy as it sounds, every kid is different and needs distinct words, hugs and cuddles. When I am not working or taking care of children, my free time, I like to read, listen some music and even to make some sports. I like riding my bicycle, going for a walk in a park near to my home or going out with my friends. Sometimes we go to the movies or to some restaurant, just spending time with the people I love feels good. But there is something more, I like to play chess very much. I fact, I have won some championships and I would be delighted to teach you or your children to play. I grew up in a catholic home, I believe in God. This does not mean that I might have a problem if you are not catholic; I just want to say that every day I try to be a good and better person and overcome any problem or challenge I might have. So, I can only thank you for reading this, and wish you good luck!

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Wei Wang, a 24 year old girl from China. My English name is Emily. I graduated from Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai campus) in June in 2009, with a major in art and design. Currently, I am working in a software company called “Spotmau Software Company”, engaging in Interface Design. My hometown in Chengdu, Sichuan province which is the pandas’ hometown; I guess you must have heard of pandas before. If you ever come to Chengdu, I would be very pleased to be your guide. I could show you around and take you to try Sichuan hotpot and traditional Sichuan tea. If you are interested in traditional Chinese culture, I am sure you would be amazed by the old town near Chengdu city. I am an outgoing, positive and easygoing girl, who lies to communicate with people. I have a lot of friends and I keep in touch with my foreign friends via email all the time. I have lived in Zhuhai for almost four and a half year. During these four years of college and 6 months working, I matured and became increasingly independent. I make lots of good friends and because of them, I don’t feel lonely. I live each day to the full. Next, I would like to introduce my parents. My father is an engineer and a steady-going person. My mother is a civil servant. She is a very talented woman and my role model. My parents consider this time abroad to be advantageous to my life. It will enhance my skills, such as independence and adaptability, so they are very supportive me to apply for this au pair job. I am the only child in my family, but I have lots of cousins. We get together every holiday and have fun together. We often moved house because of my mother’s job, so I often transferred to new schools. It gradually made me more and more independent and adapting to new environments because easier. Since graduation, I have been living with my aunt and her family. She has two children – a ten year old boy and an eight month old baby. I often called her my little sister – as my uncle often goes away on business, so I would help to take care of her, when my aunt was busy. Every night when she was tired, she would cry. I would read stories to her – to begin with, she carried on crying but I keep reading to her, and it seemed as if she fell into love with my story. Her small mouth opening and her eyes sparkling with a pure smile. Her hands would try to grab my story book. I would then put her on the bed lightly and keep reading with a quiet voice with my hand patting her. she would soon fall into sweet sleep, sucking her thumb. Besides this, I helped to look after my little brother, the 10 year old boy. He is a naughty, but smart boy. Every weekend we do sporting activities together – we often play badminton and table tennis. I am usually the badminton champion and he is the table tennis champion. When we get home, we watch movies, sometimes I teach him math. Sometimes he will test me on my English vocabulary. If I could not answer, he would tell me the words and ask me to repeat them after him. I used to say to him: “You are so great! You can be my English teacher!” I like children, no matter how difficult they can be sometimes. As long as I see children’s lovely faces and smiles, I would be happy in a short time and forget the problems right away. I like to play with them, look after them. I enjoy it and can release my inner child. One day, I will play the role of “mother”, through this Au pair opportunity. I would accumulate more experience in childcare, which will help me to be a great mother in the future. I have extensive hobbies, my favorite sports are: swimming, badminton, jogging and horse riding. Besides sports, I love English, singing (I even came second in a TV singing competition in my childhood), dancing (I learnt New Jazz), drawing, design (mainly planar design – at college, I won a LOGO competition for a Bread shop and I won an Excellence Award in the 17th Advisement of Zhuhai city) and reading (psychology, designing and fashion). I love music and I can play a little piano. I like travelling very much. i have been to some cities such as Hongkong, Shanghai, Beijing, Macau, Guangzhou, Zhengzhen, Xi’an and Sanya. I also visited several ancient Chinese towns such as Xitang in Zhejiang province. Xitang where the movie “Mission: Impossible III” was filmed. I have been many places by myself, and learned a lot from travelling, such as how to save money to do more things, life skills and learning how to adapt. The most important thing is I would treat the local people with respect and try to live as they live, think as they think. It really improved my tastes and broadened my views. I have a dream that one day I could write a travel book. The most attractive point of au pairing is the chance to make different friends and experience different cultures. America is developed in art and advertising, this atmosphere would be helpful for me to become a better designer. Of course, I love children, being with them makes me happy. So this is a good choice for me. If you don’t mind, I would be glad to bring the traditional Chinese culture to your home. I could cook Chinese dishes for you. I am also willing to be your children’s big sister. I would love to engage in sporting activities, singing, playing piano, handicraft, drawing with them if they would like. I will make my au pair life meaningful and I am sure that I can learn a lot. After one year, when I return back to China, I intend to find a job in advertisement company. Looking forward to your letters.
Kind regards,
Wei Wang

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Rawipha Kuekkong and I was born in Udon-Thani, Thailand on October 18th 1984. My mother is teacher and my father is business owner. My parents have two children: me, and my sister Waranya is 23 years old. I born in suburb of Udon-Thani it's a big city in North-Eastern part of Thailand. I have an extended family and there are houses of my relatives located in same area of my house. It’s made us close. But, when I was 5 years old I move to Sukhothai, stay away from my relatives and that was when I started taking care of myself and my younger sister. Since when I was student in primary school, someday if my parents busy with work especially in the time that I and my sister went back from school. I have to take care myself and my sister such as teach her homework and cook for her. So that’s the reason I like to cook and I have good skill for cooking. Since I was young I interested in Art and my family support me so well. I tried to learn in every kind of Art skill. I used to be student representative joined in “Student Art Skill Competition of Northern part of Thailand” and I was winner for 5 years. It’s very good experience because I could make a lot of friends in this competition. And finally I found Art made me calm and have concentration. After I graduated from high school I entered the Naresuan University by passing the examination. My study field was Art & Design, I love all of activities in my university. When there was “Developing Camp for local peoples” I’m the one who teach Art for children in rural area. I’m so happy for sharing my knowledge and see them proud of their piece of painting. I love spending time with my friends such as travel many places and picnic on weekend. My hobbies are adventure and travel in new places. It is good for collecting experience and learn how to spending time with the other people, share difference in foods and languages. It’s making me enjoy with my life more. I think I had a great childhood experience, even though my mom and dad both had to work while I was a child but they gave me a very good care. So, one of the most important things for me working with children is to try my best to understand children’s thought. I must not forget how I felt like when I was a child. So, when the time comes for me to take care of children again I can be able to understand them well. I am an active person, at home I also can’t sit without doing something for all day. I like to do house works and like to cook for my family. My family love music and I like to listen to vary kind of music. I like to play guitar and in my free time I like to painting, growing plant, fishing, and reading books. I believe that I have a good qualification in order to participate in this program by two objectives; the first one which is the main one is that I have a passion in taking care of children, I’d like very much to be useful Aupair, to give my love to children and seeing them growing up happily. In the future I want to be good mum and I will take a the experience from good American way mix with good Thai way for take care my own kids. Second one, I am sure that my ability in Art can used to engage in a process of your children self-development such as in their self-esteem, self-discipline, and cooperation. Art allows children to share their appreciation and it enhances their experience by expressing emotion or idea.
It’s would be wonderful if I can be choosen and I hope my dream will come true.
Sincerely yours
Rawipha Kuekkong

Dear Host Family,
My name is Tetiana. I am 24 years old. I am part of the big united family. My father is chemist, mother is housewife, I also have two brothers – twins. They are 17.5 years old. Several years ago cat and dog was joined to us. And now our pets are full members of our family. Whole my life is connected closely with the children. Since 7 till 17 years old these children were my brothers. Then my studying in the university was begun. During that period I worked with the children in psychological centers and rehabilitation organizations. There I with my friends realized several programs for children. After the graduating my university I got wide work experience as psychologist in the center of the creative work. My responsibilities were consisting of organization and realization psychological trainings for children. We were playing, listening to music, writing poems and fairy tales, drawing and making sculptures. We turned off the light, put out candles and read different stories about good and bad, about patience and attention, about care and love. I tried to show the whole world to these children, its colors and miracles. We were describing emotions, fighting with the fears. It was very interesting and important for my professional state. Now I’m working as psychologist in the kindergarten. It’s a very special job, because I deal with the smallest children. It’s rather difficult, but I like my job and I always try to bring these positive emotions to the children. Several days a week in the evening I spend my time as child’s tutor of English language. And sometimes my friends ask me about babysitting with their children. So, my life is full of the meetings and events. But I would like to see different parts of the world. I think au-pair program is the perfect way for me. I find communication with children very enjoyable for myself. I could teach them a lot of things, but they can also teach me. I truly hope to find a family together with which we will have a happy year together.
Tetiana

If you travel to China one day, I am delighted to be your guide. I finished my 4-year college study in Yunnan Province, which lies in the southwest of china, majoring in English. After my graduation, I worked as a foreign-trade assistant for more than one year in a company. After that, I have been working as a teacher in a private training school until now. I make many friends in the college campus. Since I was three years old, I lived in my single room and I could dress and eat myself, make bed, things like that. When I was a pupil, I began to ride a bike to school and often helped my parents with some light housework, such as cleaning the table, sweeping the floor, do the laundry and so on. My parents never worry about my life in college, because they trust my ability of self-care and independence. There are 4 people in my family: father, mother, a younger brother and me. My mother is a housewife and my father is retired. My younger brother goes to junior high school. I grew up in a very close and loving family. We the whole family get along very well with each other. My parents are in favour of my decision to attend the Au pair program very much, they regard it a valuable chance to broaden my horizon and enrich my life experience, also a challenge in strange and vigorous country. In my spare time, I like doing outdoor sports and meeting friends. I like sports very much, such as walking, badminton, yoga, biking, jogging and other outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, barbecue, kite-flying, picnic. Also I am good at swimming, Sometimes, I go to the beach, swim in the shallow water and play games with my little brother. We build sand castles and swim in the shallow water together. I love spending time with my friends. Almost at every weekend, I roam the street, chat, or join some parties with them. If there weather does not permit outdoor activity, I often read books, listen to music, radio program or watch movies at home; then I will clean the house and cook some delicious food for my family. Here I would like to tell you I love animals very much. I once kept dog, cat, rabbit, chicken, duck. They are very lovely and deserve man’s love. If there are pets in my host family, taking care of them is also my pleasure. Every child is an angel in my eyes. They are not only pretty, lovely, innocent and active, just like a doll, but also bring quite a lot of happiness, pleasure, even surprise to us! Maybe for other girls of the same age with me, looking after baby is a tiring and boring job, while for me, it is enjoyment to stay with kids and take good care of them. Since I love kids very much, it is widely accepted among my friends that I am definitely the kind of person who will be a perfect wife and mother in the future. Meanwhile, I am easy-going, careful, always patient with children, and have the sense of responsibility. My rich experience of caring for baby and kids is sufficient for me to be a qualified au pair, because I have been taking care of kids for many years. Since the year of 1998, I began to take care of my little brother and my younger cousin. I cooked dinner for them, fed them, picked them by bus to kindergarten and so on. Also I often read fairy tales for them. They showed great interests in my reading. Especially under my instruction and help, my little brother cultivated the habit of reading and learned many Chinese words before school, which laid a good foundation for his Chinese study in the future. For another example, when I assisted my friend to look after one-year-old Anqi Chen (their little daughter’s name) in the summer vocation of 2008, I dressed her, played games with her, such as passing balls; changed diapers, fed her with milk, bread, vegetables at the right time, cradled her to sleep, read a story and sang for her. I also bathed for little Anqi. For guaranteeing her safety and happy bath, I always smear soap onto her face lightly by not so wet towel, then I cleaned her for several times by a wet and not dripping towel. On 2-to-3 centimeters of water was put in a bath tub, and I gave her a few toy duck of balata, then began to bath her. After finishing bath, I would first hold her to bed in case of her getting a cold, then dried her with a towel and got dressed for her. We really spent pleasant days together. In the course of looking after children, many interesting things happened. I remembered when I took care of the children in a kindergarten, one day a 4-year-old girl Xiaohong asked me: “dear teacher, where does chicken come from?” I said: “It is born in eggs.” If it is so, I do not dare eat eggs.” Xiaohong replied. I was a little surprised for that, so I asked “Why?” “How do I deal with the matter if a chicken is born in my stomach.” she responded. At the moment, I couldn’t help laughing loud. It will be my honour for being choosen as your Au pair, and I am confident that you will never regret your choice. I will treat the kids as my own little brother and sister, and do my best to take good care of them! I hope that we can spend a happy and memorable year together, and be good friends forever! I prefer to be a good elder sister to the kids! For me a most attractive point of Aupair program is the opportunity of improving my English and experiencing American culture. Certainly I would like to take care of your kids and do some light housework as the Aupair regulation requires. I am quite independent girl and have many experiences with living alone. And I have worked for more than one and half a year since I finished my college life. I believe that I will get used to the Aupair life rapidly especially under some kindly guide from your family. And I plan to be an English teacher in my country when I finish Aupair life and return to China, because I love children and education, and it fits me very well.
Best wishes from Pingdu to USA!
Lily

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Karol, I am 24 years old, I am studying at the University the Tourism and Hotel Management. I am from Arequipa-Peru. I am writing to you so that you can get to know me and you will be sure that you can trust of me the caring of your children. I lived in San Juan, it is a small valley, It is 4 hours from Arequipa. We lived there because my daddy worked in a Mining Company, my mom always devoted to the care of me and my two brothers: Carlos is the oldest, next comes Arturo and I am the youngest. We studied there from kindergarten until high school. In this place I had a happy childhood and I met good friends who are still my friends. When I finished school we moved to Arequipa so I have lived here since 2002. One year I studied in an Academy to apply for University and I came into Tourism and Hotel Management. Now, I live with my parents, my brother Arturo and my cousin Isaul who has lived with us a lot of years. My oldest brother Carlos got married to Susy two years ago and 6 months ago. They live in Chile because Carlos works there. They have a child “Valentino”. He is one year and 6 months. Whom I love because I took care of him since he was born until he was 19 months. During my years in the University, I have heard about the Au Pair Program by some close friends who traveled with this program, but my decision to register like an Au Pair was made this year because I am on the fifth year and I want to left the last semester until I come back to Peru. Then It will be easier to finish my career and I can register into another program to travel to another foreign country but to work on my professional career. I mainly decided for this program because for me, It has different advantages: I have the opportunity to know a foreign country, have good experiences there, improve my English level, study something related to my career and work taking care of children that is something I have always wanted to do. I have worked caring children for two families here in my country, another experience that I had was this year in an Orphanage near to my home where I came in like a volunteer for 4 months. I used to go there on weekends. Those days were very beautiful because I shared funny moments with them, I could learn more about children and their life. They were affectionate and I felt very happy. Now I can say It was the best experience in my life. I had the leave the Orphanage because I started to work in a Travel Agency and that is a good opportunity for my career. In some vacations I was away from home because I traveled to Camano Beach for 3 months, for me this is a good place to relax. Sometimes I used to read a book, go swimming, play volleyball and meet my friends. I am thinking to travel to United States to work as an Au Pair since January because I want to be with my family in these important days as Christmas and New Year. My family is very important for me and I don’t want to feel sad away from my home during this dates. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Karol De La Cruz

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Xiaoming Chen 23 years old, a girl form an old city – Luoyang in Henan Province, China. My hometown is a very beautiful city and it’s an ancient city of 9 dynasties. I am a tour guide for several years, so whenever you have a trip to China, I would like to show you around. I live in a warm family with five people: my parents, a little brother, an elder sister, and me; there are also a dog and a kitty in my home. They all support my decision to be au pair and I appreciate them much. I love life and love enjoying life, so I have a lot of hobbies such as traveling, listening to music, reading, and sports. I have got English guide certificate license and lead many tour groups to half of China to experience many things and get rich knowledge. I learn how to get along well with different people, I arrange all the things for tourists, including accommodation and meal and so on. This make me mature early. I am interested in and love playing many kinds of sports such as running, the long and high jump, climbing mountain, the marathon race, playing basketball, football, volleyball, shuttlecock, skipping rope and jogging. From elementary school to university, I joined in many sports meeting. Although I haven’t got many awards, participant is important. In summer holidays in 2007, I opened a training course in my home town. About 60 students, most of them are primary and middle school students, we were getting along with each other very well. In the morning I lead them to do some sports firstly, then we begin our class, I encourage them to take apart in English topic, not only read and write, but keep talking, and sometimes we play English dramatic performance, I will give them some regards who have done a good job. There were ring the break, I let them do eyes exercise, All the students were very happy, because we not only study, but also we played very happy. When the training course ended, our farewell was a long one. They all ask me when I open the training course, they must come again. At that time, I was deeply moved, and very proud. If they don’t love me, how did they ask me that question? I enjoy playing games and communicating with children because they are kind-mind, simple, loving and have rich minds. I like to go to my neighbor’s home to take care of their children. Most of the children love studying new things and playing new games, if you join them as a member; it is very easy to become a friend of them. When I join your family, I will treat your children as my younger sisters and brothers to help and look after them. At the beginning, they might not get used to me, but I am a patient girl and I am confident to be a friend of you children by my effort. In university, I worked as a baby-sitter and cleaner. I also picked up junk and washing plates. For the part-time job and studying, I had less time to play games. My parents often told me that you can get everything if you were not lazy. I never forget this word because this faith makes me become a happy optimistic and simply girl who is responsible, enthusiastic, active, and diligent. Because of these different experiences, my parents feel relieved in me. Whatever I do, my friends trust me and my teacher are very confident of me. During summer vacation in 2008, I was honorable Olympic Volunteers as a university student delegates. I service on the 4 th floor for VIP, CEO, and the Heads of States. Such as Bush, and Bill Gates, Everyday I must stand all the time for more than 15 hours with smile, it challenged my energy and stamina greatly, sometimes I really felt very tired, but when I saw the athletes were struggling on the playground, I must learn from them and go on. Though this experience, I get to know how to insists and never give up in any instance. I will never forget this experience of only one time in my life. I think it’s necessary to learn driving, because it is a basic skill in daily life. After many days and nights practicing driving, I get my driving license in April 3 rd 2009. Although I am a new driver, I am careful and I am working hard to keep practicing. There is a dog and kitty in my family, they are so lovely that I can’t help to love them. If your family has pets too, I would like to help you look after them. I am confident to be a good friend with them. If you don’t mind, I will give your pets Chinese names. I love English and western culture, when I saw the interpreter, I envy them very much. So I choose major – Tourism English. Want to know more west culture and customs and can talk to them freely. I believe this will be a unique experience in my life and I can make a lot of friends in America which will be a great asset to my life. When I come back, I will miss your family and my American friends and I will keep in touch with you forever. I want to go on my study in University. If you are interested in me, please contact me. | Letter to Host Family |
Dear Host Family,
First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My given name is Lertkanlaya Sa-Kha and known well as “Aum” I am from Thailand, mature and reliable, currently living in Bangkok. I grew up in a warm family with my parents and grandfather. At the moment I am living with parents in our lovely house, have 4 peoples including me which is a small family. My dad’s working for a part of government and mother’s a housewife. I have been helping them all the housework and taking care of all duties from an early age such as cooking, clean up, ironing, mopping etc and also the other things required around the house. I graduated from Dhurakij Pundit Univeristy where I majored in communication arts (radio and television). After I graduated I got a job at Exact Co. Ltd I was television writer helping to create a variety show on Thai TV. I realize that this is very different from au pair work but I am always looking for new experiences. I’m a simple girl who has never left Thailand and while I love it here in my home country I would love to see more of the world and learn about different races and cultures. Of all the places in the world America is the place I would most like to live in and learn about, one of the big bonuses of living there would be the chance to practice and improve my English skills. What better way to achieve all these things than to live and work with an American family? Another reason why I want to move into au pair work is that I love children and I am never happier than when spending time with them. I take care of my nephew every day while my cousin is at work and that has given me good first hand experience of child care. I realize that my previous qualifications are not related to this line of work so I have done a training course at Ramkhamhaeng University Demonstration school (Elementary Level) and Kluaynamthai Hospital in general child care, nutrition for children, art activies, first aid and cpr. I am sure that I would be a first class addition to your family and look forward to hearing from you soon about my application.
Yours faithfully
Lertkanlaya Sa-Kha

I’m a very responsible person, I value what I have and aspire to have a good future. This is why I spend my time studying and getting good grades. I’m in 7 th semester and I’ll be done with my career in only 2 semesters. For my career it’s very important to speak another language. Since I was a child I was interested in learning English, and now I value specially its importance. I traveled with my mother to Spain to study. In my free time I liked to take care of children. I loved to be with them and share nice moments. The first time my mother went abroad I had to stay in Ecuador taking care of my little sister and form that moment emerged from me a big love to children and I know that it is very hard. I like to take care for them, attend to them, to dress them, to brush them and devote to their activities. This helped me a lot, because when I went to Spain I was able to look after some children during my free time. Sometimes I used to teach them to prepare desserts, to make handicrafts, to swim. We used to play, to dance and I used to help them doing their homework and studying. I was glad to do that and for me it didn’t represent exactly a job. Generally I’m studying and doing homework and in my free time I like to read, visit new places, go shopping or rest. I really like to know about other cultures and to learn other languages. Also, for my career its so important to speak English, that’s why I decided to participate in the au-pair program. I hope to find a kind family, that let’s me get in its home, to whom I will respect, value and share its culture and customs. I’d like to show you the best of me and help you with your children. You can feel calm and secure. I’ll give my best to look after your children. During the time I’m there I’ll learn about your culture and my objective will be learning English as well. At the end of that time I’d hope I have the best of the experiences and I’ll come back very happy to finish my career and hare with my family and friends the experiences I had and of course I’ll be sad to leave the friends I’ll get there. Well, I hope you’ve known me a little. Thanks a lot for the attention you paid to my letter and I’ll be expecting an answer back from you.
Lovely yours,
Evelyn

I am a huge fan of American TV series like One tree hill, Mars investigations, Cold Case, and Grey’s Anatomy. I love dogs, they are my favorite animal, but also cats. | Letter to Host Family |
Dear Host Family,
Hello, my name is Yu lian Mei, and Elian is my English name. Now I am 22 years old and will gain my Bachelor’s degree on Pharmacy this year. So excited as I am here to tell you something about my characteristic, my hobbies and interests, my future plan, and the motives why I want to be an Au Pair member. Talking about my characteristic, my families and my friends all consider me as easygoing, kind, hard-working, smart, considerate and so on. Certainly, I am absolutely confident to say that I seldom disappoint the people around me. At home I am an excellent child, helping housework without being asked. In my friend circle, I act as gentle, helpful and friendly as I can to get along with my friends. To be a good student, I never upset my teachers, and I always gained the scholarship in the end of the year. Meanwhile, I have various kinds of interests and hobbies. For instant, table tennis, running, reading cooking, teaching, playing with kids, trying to learn playing the Chinese ancient instrument etc. My roommate always said I am full of energy and never cease. To be honest, I am quite satisfied with my life and very happy to learn new things, experience different things m, make friend with various people. Time is limited to anyone of us, so I just do not want to waste any time and would like to make a good preparation to hold on every chance comes to me to improve my capabilities, to make myself much more perfect person. The above are part of the reasons why I want to participate the Au Pair program. Not only want to experience new life, different culture, learn more knowledge but also want to perfect my skill of child care. I definitely think I have high qualification sot be an Au Pair member, because when I was still a primary school student about 10 years old, I had tried to attend my cousin’s two children, playing with them, feeding them, even sometimes help to bathe them. During the 4 years campus life, I used to be a tutor for several students, whose ages were from 8 to 13. In this way, I am quite familiar about how to teach children and communicate with them. What impressed me most is the experience to be an tutor for nearly 20 students at one time. At first I did not know how to cope with so many students, but through several day’s observation and attempt I found a good method to make them behave better. In addition, in order to improve my English I had joined a Language-exchange program since Sep, 2008, to assistant a German teacher in the university to learn Mandarin. So it won’t be a problem for me to teach and communicate with your dear kids. Finally, when it comes to my future plan, I really have a good plan – run my own business, which associate with children education. To be an au pair abroad and to live together with foreign children native in English will be the most treasure I got in order to fulfill my goal. So, I can assure you that if I cam chosen to be an extended member of your family. I will try my 200% or more endeavor to look after your good kids.
Best wishes to you!
Yours sincerely
Yulian Mei

I am easy going and open minded. I have got experience of looking after my own brother and sister and the neighbor’s children as well. I give focus on the fact that we must be serious in understanding the children’s feelings. Without understanding it, we can not care them. I am very serious about this fact. Children are very delicate and so is their mind, I think. So, whatever they learn, it will make a great impact on them for along time in the future. So, children should be taught and cared nicely. I can care children while they are eating, playing or staying at home. I can take them to school and pick them up from there. I am happy to take them to the parks or zoo whenever we have time. I will create a happy and excited time period during my stay at your home. I will do work according to your advice. I will surely make you fully satisfied and happy with me and my work. Dear Host Family,
I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Sabita Sharma. I am 21 years old and I live in a Capital City of Nepal called Kathmandu. I live with my parents in our own house. I have five family members including my father, mother, one younger brother, one younger sister. We are very friendly, helpful, hard working and co-operative. We support each other to make correct decision and share happiness and sorrow together. I have completed my intermediate level and currently finished my Bachelor's examination in management. I am interested to learn new things to meet new people and want to know different culture. Actually am eldest daughter in my family and I have responsibility towards my family. So I think I should do the same job that matches my interest as well as my experience on the basis of my experience and interest. I have confident that a good au pair should possess. Talking about my experience as a play group teacher in Milestone Youth English School; there are different age group kids, and all are cute, lovely and so much funnier in their work. I have presented my self sometimes as their mother, sometimes friends and sometimes elder sister. I had to be with them the whole day, feed their food, changing diapers and all the necessary work to look after the kids. Although it was a tough job, I enjoyed my time over there. I want to be an au pair because I can deal with kids and I like it a lot. And of course, the kids like me, too! I think I am a very responsible person who would never let the kids alone for example. I am more a cautiously person which handles everything with care. I love to spend time with kids and make them happy and every smile of a child makes me happy. I think that are good conditions for being an au pair. I don't think I will have a problem to leave my family behind and live with you for a year since I am really flexible and love to see and learn new things! It was my biggest dream since I was a little girl to spend one year in a typical American family. Furthermore this year could be a big opportunity for me because besides taking care of children I could improve my English-skills, meeting new friends and seeing other culture than the Nepalese. I think this year could be the best year of my life and will be very important for my future. My zests are listening music, cooking, dancing, helping poor people and play with kids and conversation with kids as well. Talking about my health I have sound health. I have never gone through any type of serious problem. I am very friendly and can make everyone comfort with me. I know English language that makes easy for me to care American child and to communicate with babies and my host family. I love children very much and like to enjoy my time with kids. I believe children are the sweetest gift of god. If you give me an opportunity to look after your child I will be grateful to you. I assure you that I'd worked so as to make you fully satisfy with my work. I am confident that your beloved baby will be happy with me and I can be a good au pair for your kids and a good extended family member to you.
I am enthusiastically waiting to hear a positive response from you soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Sabita Sharma

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Ina Jennifer Borsch and I am 22 years old. I live in a small village called Solingen, which is in the west of Germany, to be more precise, in North Rhine-Westphalia. I live here with my Mum in a little cozy house next to the city. My Mum and me get along very well and enjoy lots of activities together. I hope this letter will help you to decide if I am the right Au Pair for you. First of all, I would like to tell you something about me and my family. My parents are divorced for 10 years but they are still good friends. My Mom who is called Jutta, works as an office manager and my Dad, who is called Leo, works at a bank. I have a very close relationship to my parents and the both do fully support my decision to become an Au Pair. They are very excited about my plans of spending a year in the United Sates of American with a great host family. In June 2007 I got my A-Level and after that, I have done an education as an office manager. Art has been my favourite subject in school and I also liked German, English and Music-lessons. I have been learning English since 1999 in school, but it’s not perfect of course, so I really want to improve my English in the USA. During my school days, I have worked at a fastfood restaurant and at a fashion boutique. I like to work in the service and get to know a lot of people. It was very interesting to me. Since my 18th birthday I have my full driving license. I really love and enjoy driving. I have no own car, but often use the car of my Mum. While my education as an office manager I made a first aid course. In my sparetime I really like to meet my friends. I enjoy going to the cinema, reading books, listening to music, going to concerts and playing piano. I also like swimming, drawing and photography. My favourite hobby is dancing. Since I was 12 years old, I have been dancing in a ballroom-dancing-club and I went to dancing competitions. Furthermore I would like to tell you more about my character: I am an open-minded person, who likes to be in company. I am friendly, responsible, reliable and very active/creative. It is never boring to spend time with me, because I am very flexible and funny. Now I want to tell you something about my experiences with children: I have been working as a babysitter since I was 16 years old. Since that time I care for several children. I really love to spend time with children and to show them new things. It’s so amazing to see them smiling and growing up. The children are always very happy when they see me and when we can spend time together. Mostly I care for them children in evenings or on weekends. With children I like to sing, to read books, to do handicrafts, to play (inside or outside) or to dance. We often go to the playground. I pick them up from the kindergarten or form school and then I often help the elder children with their homework. With the elder children I like to go to different activities. We have a very close relationship and the children come to me when they have problems or when they want to talk with me. I love to help them out when they need it and I really love to be a “big sister” for them. I really enjoy spending time with children and being a part of the children’s lives. I am also very proud when children learn something new from me. So families and children learn something new from me. So families and children feel very comfortable with me. There are many reasons for me to want to become an au pair. First of all because of my love towards children. Furthermore I would like to spend a great year with a lovely American family. I like to travel and I am very interested in meeting new people and I would love to see new places and get to know impressions of the American way of life. I would like to be an au pair in the USA because it combines all of the things that are very important to me: Children, Family-Life, New Friends, different culture, studying and of Course a lot of fun. All in all, thank you for reading my letter and for spending your time to get to know me a little. I hope to hear from you and to become a part of your family. I would give my best, that your children are happy and I am sure we are going to have a wonderful time together. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Ina

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Ieva and I’m from small country called Latvia, that is located near the Baltic sea in northern Europe. I come from small country, but I have a big heart and I love to have children around. I like to have fun with kids and do many funny things, but also I like to teach them something. My mother is an art teacher so I think I have teaching gene from her. I am really enjoying teaching kids and I’m very happy that I had a chance to teach crafts in Sunday school. This summer I also had a great opportunity to be a group leader in teens camp for the first time in my life. It was a very good time that I spent with these kids. This camp was for kids from socially disadvantaged families. I learned that love can do great things in the lives of the people. My mother is very supportive about that I want to be an Au Pair in the USA. She thinks that it will be a good opportunity for me. She likes to be an art teacher and she is doing her job with all her heart. Kids are around her all the time. I guess that’s why she is not very sad that I’m leaving, because she is not alone there. I also have older sister and brother, but they are living in other countries. My sister is married and she lives in Russia, and she is expecting her first child. When she lived in Latvia she was working in an animation studio and was making cartoons, so she also is very connected to art. My brother currently is living in Malta and working there, and his hobby is to play guitar, I think he is very good at it. Our mom is very happy that we have this desire to go and see the world. All my family is very supportive about my Au Pair year in USA, and I’m very happy that they are saying big “Yes” about that. I love my family even we are so far from each other. I’m very patient, friendly and loving person. I like to have fun and play games with kids, but I’m very responsible person and I have serious view of things as well. I’m very opened for new things and I think that Au Pair program is very good way how to get new experience and get to know other cultures. I remember that long time ago my sister wanted to become an Au Pair, but for some reasons she didn’t and I forgot about this opportunity and she recommended that to me. I decided that this is the thing that I want to do and I want to be an Au Pair in USA, because I want to spend this year in English speaking country and also I want to get to know American culture. I would like to be a part of your loving family and have wonderful time with you. From my host family I expect they will be like my own family and that I will be more then just worker for them. I would like to be like a friend for them. Besides helping to take care of your children I would like to help you with light house works and cooking. Currently I’m nanny for two beautiful and sweet girls and their family is like my own. From September they both will go to kindergarden so this family don’t need my help from September but we are staying very good friends, and I will miss them. It’s time to start new interesting things in my life and I hope that my Au Pair year in USA will be filled with joy and good experience. I hope that after this year I will be able to say that I have another loving family in America.

Letter to Host Family
Dear Host Family,
I’m very excited to meet you, I can’t wait to be there! I’m looking forward to learn about your family and your culture, I am all about learning, and I’m sure that being part of your family 1 year is going to be one of the most unforgettable experience in my life! I also want you to meet some stuff about me after we meet, mi hole name is Valeria Rodriguez Leal, I was born in a little and beautiful town in Mexico, named Queretaro, a place full of history, which I love, I’m 18 years old and I just finished high school and I had so much fun, I graduated with excellent grades, and a lot of friends and memories, but is time to move on, and to use all the maturity and responsibility I learned in school. And I think being an au pair is part of it. And after that I wasn’t to study psychology and get a specialization in kids with autism, as you can see I love kids, and working with this special kids need patience that’s why I think this year is which I have. So I thing to be very useful! I want to be an au pair also because I think that the change in the world should be made by us and by the next generation, and that changes need to be done with love, and when you grow up with love, you will give love, and I’m sure I’m going to love your child. I have always been very independent, because both of my parents work and I had to take care of my brother since we were little, that made me very responsible, and thankful with my parents because they always worked to give us the best. And they also where there when we needed them. Besides being a support to your child I could also by a support for you, I assure you that you can trust me, I am going to be there to help you always, not only the year I’m there. I’m a very prudent driver, I always respect the speed limits and I have never had a traffic ticket. And also I am an excellent cooker, mi grandmother thought me while I was a child. Now I want to talk a little about my family because is the most import thing in my life, I’m who I am because of them, my parents are very lovable, they have teach me good, as my mother says, I’m a well educated and very prepared lady. I have a younger brother, he is 16 years old and I adore him, we are very tight. I also have a dog, which I love, I enjoy playing with him all day long and we are both very energetic and active. I love sports, so I go out to run with him. I am also a dancer since I was 6 years old, I have been in every single dance competition ever since, I’ve danced ballet, hip hop, belly dance, jazz. And in almost all I’ve been in the first three, I was a dance teacher twice, one in my dance academy in a group of girls from 8 to 10, and as a social service for my school. I am very creative, one way of spending my free time is making handicrafts, like bracelets, necklaces, y also paint and re-invent my clothes, I love taking photos and later I edit them, and I’m also a model, a hobbies that I enjoy a lot because think a photograph is a way to express your self. Being good at dance didn’t make me a bad student, actually I’m very dedicated, I always have had good grades. I also enjoy reading and writing, every year one of my goals is reading ten books in the twelve months, and for the last 2 year I have accomplish that goal, that’s something that characterize me, my perseverance, if I want something I will do everything that is in my hands to do it, I am very talkative and open minded, that makes me easy-going and it helps me to adapt from changes, actually, I like changes, because this world is too big to stay always the same, traveling and knowing people culture and places should be a “most” for everybody, I am very open minded but I also know when boundaries are needed, I always teat people with respect because that’s what I have learned. Well that’s some stuff about me. I’m willing to meet you! I hope to see you soon!
Valeria
